VIPR v7New Features and Functionality Added to the
GLHC Virtual Integrated Patient Record (VIPR)

The Virtual Integrated Patient Record (VIPR) is a community-wide, longitudinal repository specific to the GLHC network. It contains unique patient information from contributing health care organizations across the state; like lab, radiology, pathology, ADT, and transcribed documents. These records can be accessed through a secure web viewer or through an organization’s electronic medical record system.

VIPR offers healthcare providers a more robust understanding of a patient’s health care history. Better information leads to more accurate diagnosis and treatment, reduced redundancy, and improved outcomes.

The new VIPR will improve the user experience in many ways and has the ability to create CCDs on demand; an important functionality.

Users will not need to create new accounts. We recommend that all users reset passwords when logging into VIPR v7.

Lakeland Health Enhances Workflow for
Immunization Record Queries

Lakeland Health System was the first hospital organization in Michigan to query patient immunization records held within the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR) directly from their internal electronic medical record.

Dr. Kenneth O’Neill, Lakeland’s Vice President of Clinical Integration, explains the organization’s motivation. “Lakeland Health is highly focused on a “speed to value” approach to achieving Triple Aim goals [enhanced patient care, improved outcomes, and reduced costs] on behalf of our patients.” He continued, “While we don’t see ourselves as technology pioneers, given our long relationship with GLHC, combined with the promise of easier access to the state immunization registry, early adoption of this patient-centric technology made great sense to us.”

Washtenaw County Community Mental HealthGLHC & Washtenaw County CMH Collaborate on Presentation at National Conference

“Enhancing Community Mental Health Care Delivery with HIE”

The presentation explored the opportunities and challenges involved in integrating physical health data with the delivery of behavioral health services through the use of HIE technology.

  • For over 10 years Washtenaw County Community Mental Health has been a leader in bridging behavioral and physical health through its integrated health efforts, and is among the first behavioral health organizations in the nation to share behavioral health information because of their partnership with GLHC.
  • The two-way sharing of information is improving quality of care, enhancing patient safety, and reducing costs in Washtenaw County.
  • Expanded patient health information sharing has reduced costs by eliminating the duplication of costly metabolic testing by as much as 200 panels per month, an estimated annual savings of $72,000 per year.
