To our lovely Lakeshore PAWS family:

Wow, has it been a month! I can’t remember a time where we received as many pleas from shelters needing help with injured and/or abused dogs as we have in September. It's incredibly heart-wrenching and rewarding at the same time.

We helped a 10-year-old chihuahua mix that was attacked by another dog and surrendered because the owner could not afford medical care. As soon as we got our hands on her, she had to be rushed to the ER. If we had found her any later, it would have been too late. She has since been adopted. We also helped a bulldog named Eleanor that had a growth on her front leg. She was at a shelter that could not afford her surgery and, as a result, was considering euthanizing her. She is currently recovering in a foster home. We saved almost a dozen puppies that came from another state that unfortunately practices “free release”. Free release means that instead of euthanasia, animals are simply released into the wild with the idea that someone would find them or nature would take it's course; whichever occurs first. We were able to take every puppy and they are all placed in amazing forever homes.

With every single example listed above, there's a common denominator: you. We could not have saved any of those lives without the generous donations of our supporters and followers. Your generosity coupled with our wonderful staff's dedication to saving lives is, quite literally, life-changing! A big round of applause for our office and kennel staff who work hard to make sure that every dog is as comfortable and happy as possible during their time with us. It's truly a joint effort and we're beyond lucky to have everyone working together to give these deserving doggies their second chance at life. As always, thank you to everyone from the bottom of my heart.

Tim Schoenling

Tim is SO important to Lakeshore PAWS!

The office and kennel staff look forward to his visits almost every single day. He transports dogs to the vet, walks and helps train dogs, walks families through the center and facilitates meet and greet's, helps collect donations and SO MUCH MORE!

We get excited right around the time he comes to the center each day because we know we can count on him to get things done and because he's an absolute joy to work with. He sometimes spends an entire weekend at the facility helping the staff and loving on the dogs. We could not be more grateful for you, Tim!

Dog of the Month,
Slim Shady

Hi friends, Slim Shady here, the handsome 2 year old Pit Mix with a reminder that I’m still available for adoption!

You may remember me when a medical fund was posted for me in March. I was in terrible shape. I was malnourished, missing hair, and my poor paws were a mess; I was missing the top layer of all my paw pads and my nails had curled over. When I first arrived at Lakeshore PAWS, I was sad, scared and in pain. With a lot of TLC from staff members and volunteers, I finally knew what it was like to be loved.

It took me some time to trust. Slowly but surely, I started to put on weight, my hair started to grow back as shiny as ever, and my paws healed after many manicures. I ended up getting adopted in April, but sadly it didn't work out and I was returned to the shelter. I understand though; it just wasn’t my perfect match. So here I am, back at the adoption center waiting for the right family.

I love playing fetch, TENNIS BALLS, belly rubs and ear scratches! My ideal home would be pretty calm and not extremely overstimulating because I do get stressed at times due to my past experiences. I would also love for my family to have a fenced in yard with grass that I can romp around in! I love all people I meet, but sometimes it takes me a few minutes to warm up completely to new friends. I’m also not very keen on other dogs and would prefer to be the only dog in the home.

I hope to meet my new family soon! When you come to visit me and get to know my goofy and loving self, hopefully you’ll know I’m the right boy for you.
