Mattias Martens calling for Beta Readers
Speaking of authors, Mattias Martens, graduate of the Ignite Your Confidence Workshop, is looking for Beta Readers before he publishes his book The Goer.

The Goer is a new adult fantasy novel, the premise is:

“A warrior from an island tribe flees her home to be free of its cruelty and corruption. Seeking the edge of the world, she discovers a magical ability that grows in her the farther and faster she runs.”

Note from Mattias: "Takers will have five weeks with an advance draft of the novel to gather their thoughts and comments. These thoughts and comments will then be taken very closely to heart as I complete the last round of edits before publication on the first of July.

Send your e-mail to if you are interested. Cheers!"

You can check out other samples of Mattias's writing (fun tongue twister try saying Mattias's 10 times fast....) at

Karen McGregor: How to Triple Your Income through Speaking

99% of Entrepreneurs are not doing the one thing that produces more sales and more new clients than any other low-cost, high return strategy:

Speaking to Inspire, Educate, and Sell!

There are two reasons :

#1 They just don’t know how effective Speaking can be for promoting their business or services.

#2 Those that do attempt it aren’t sure how to do it properly and struggle with the age-old conflict of how to sell in a way that is not pushy, yet still produces massive results.

Make Your Mark lives by the tagline “Business with Soul,” which simply means doing business with Heart in a way that makes a positive impression on all those that your business impacts: your staff, colleagues, associates, vendors and the community.

Guest Post: The Science and Practice of Speaking and Being Heard
Danielle, a professional voice coach who deals frequently with the challenges of public speaking, delivered a talk on human acoustics. First we heard some of the history of acoustics, beginning with the architectural techniques the Greeks used to make their actors and orators heard in crowded amphitheatres. Then we moved on to the acoustics of the body itself. Through the body, it’s possible to apply some of the tricks the Greeks used to make their actors boom, and unpack an amphitheatre wherever you might need one.

Speaking of Speaking
Valentijn Dhaenens came to Vancouver BC with his touring solo show, BigMouth, a tapestry of the world's greatest speeches woven together with snippets of song. The results were riveting. I wrote a review for Plank Magazine, I have included a snippet the text below.
