WCC Dogs Greet the Greatest Generation

We recently had the great honor to take part in the Honor Flight program, which flies Veterans of World War II and Korea to visit their memorials in Washington, D.C. Volunteer Bonnie Grower and her husband, Lt. Commander Jason Grower, are regular volunteers with the Honor Flight Network, the non-profit organization that organizes the trips. Read more and see the pictures here.

WCC - The Northern California Connection

Did you know that the VA Medical Center in Menlo Park, CA is where WCC Director Rick Yount formulated the first Warrior service dog training program to address symptoms of Post-Traumatic Stress and Traumatic Brain Injuries? Last spring, Rick went back to launch the West Coast WCC Program at the new Menlo Park Campus Welcome Center. Get to know us and the important work we're doing with California's Wounded Warriors.

A New Charity Challenge...And You Can Help

Warrior Canine Connection was recently notified that we have been selected for a Newman's Own Foundation CrowdRise campaign called "Honoring Those Who Serve." We are thrilled to be a part of this important effort to provide support to our country's Service Men and Women.

Will you become a part of Team WCC and help us win one of the cash prizes before the challenge ends on November 11?
  • The charity that raises the most funds will be awarded a $75,000 grant from the Newman's Own Foundation
  • Second place will receive $50,000
  • Third place will receive $25,000
  • Another $30,000 will be given throughout the campaign through weekly Bonus Challenges.

We Love a Parade!!!

In early September, we were excited to be invited to participate in the Kensington, MD annual Labor Day Parade, thanks to Puppy Parent Patty Stephens and WCC Program Ambassador Jean Wolfe. Read more about it...and enjoy the photos!

Mark Your Calendar for Our First WCC Graduation

Sunday, November 3rd will mark a very special event: the graduation ceremony for our first "class" of WCC dogs. You are invited to join us as we send Gabe II, Birdie, Cadence, Navi and Ron off into their careers in support of disabled Veterans and their families!

Here are the details:

Sunday, November 3, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
Shady Grove Middle School
8100 Mid County Highway
Gaithersburg, MD 20877

Attire is casual, and a light lunch reception will follow. If you will be able to attend, and have NOT already R.S.V.P.'d, please let us know by Friday, October 25.

Thank You

Because you voted, because you shared the "100 Cars for Good" Facebook page, and because you encouraged your friends, co-workers and families to vote for us, we are eagerly awaiting delivery of our brand new Toyota Sienna van. The van will be used to expand the reach of WCC to additional locations by allowing us to transport dogs. It will also enable us to bring Wounded Warriors to our Healing Quarters for a much-needed break from the hospital. We cannot begin to express our gratitude to Toyota, and to everyone who voted!

"What WCC Means to Me"

Things that many of us take for granted - like sleeping through the night - are often lost with post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries. Here's what one of our Wounded Warriors has to say about his experiences with WCC.
