Women on the Rise

I recently popped into the newly refurbished Ankh Wellness Centre in West London after hearing that anyone who’s anyone always stops off there. Well I was certainly in for a pleasant surprise when I went downstairs where a group of professional young men were promoting a natural hair workshop, sat talking, and their topic? Women! Yes, they were discussing us and I nearly swooned as I shamelessly eaves dropped. They pointed out that there were more women in the world than men, and that if women truly knew their own worth, they would be the world leaders. One of the brothers went as far as to say that a man is always at peace with a woman in his arms and that women were creators, not destroyers and made better leaders.

Later that day I ended up at another meeting where I got involved with a group of women having a discussion about the explosion of women doing things, lots of things, women breaking down barriers, women rocking their communities, the universe, yes we’re seeing these activities all around us and especially since we embarked on Every Woman Inspired, now only a few weeks away.

The Moon must be in its strength for such out pouring of feminine energy to be taking place on a global scale like this. And I saw we weren’t alone in our thinking because as I read Ms Afropolitan blog, (a blog which has the rare power of engaging me to its end), I was hypnotised by what the blogger was saying about women and power. Did any of you manage to listen to any of the 100 Women, which BBC World Service aired on Friday 25th October? Personally I found some of it stimulating and would recommend you doing the iPlayer thing to see what you missed. 
Every Woman Inspired (EWI)


I can confirm more exciting speakers and workshops at the Every Woman Inspired Retreat and Expo. Gemma Feare, the now outgoing Miss Jamaica UK is not just a beautiful face, but also happens to be a business graduate. Gemma will deliver her keynote speech on the theme, health, wealth and inspiration.

Great Men Support Inspiring Women

David Chen, Freelance Journalist, Broadcaster, Marketing and Brand Builder and the CEO of
A Taste of Our Culture will be making a keynote speech at the launch reception of Every Woman Inspired. David who lives between the UK and Jamaica has always held women in high esteem, and like most men who do hold women in high esteem, love their mothers, grandmothers, sisters and aunts.

The Gateway to Heaven Poets shook up Chelsea Theatre with their ‘Stories From Between’ production. It was a night of following the sexual evolution of the black woman via poetry, prose, narrative, and songs. Enjoy some of the pictures from the evening and watch out for another run in 2014.

2inspire & Ankh Wellness Centre

We want to congratulate 2inspire, who held their sixth annual expo in October, and which is growing from strength to strength. October also saw the official launch of Ankh, (African Konnection to Health), which took place in West London. Well done to the women who have opened this nurturing and holistic health centre/shop of amazing organic and natural products. 

Blood for Life & RAFFA receive “Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2013”

Congratulations to Blood for Life & RAFFA, who received the BBIUK “Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2013”. The two Diaspora-led organisations led by Dr Dapo Odumeri and Rudi Page have worked in partnership to deliver specialist medical equipment for Blood Transfusion Services and Hospitals throughout Africa and the Caribbean. This is a special international leadership project as it links NHS Blood & Transplant Global Health aspirations with Diaspora-led NGOs mission to contribute to the UN Millennium Development Goals on Maternal Health to “improve mothers and babies lives” with the assurance of scale, value and efficiency. The partnership has recently acquired mobile clinics for Tamale Teaching Hospital, Ghana and National Blood Transfusion Services, Jamaica.
World Peace Day
 
This month, the EWI Expo team and the WIN team acknowledge World Peace Day, which falls on November 17th. We embrace peace between cultures, nations, genders, and walks of life and consider this day to be a reminder of how we should interact with others every day of the year.
 
We hope you will inspire peace not only with others, but within yourself, and don't forget to acknowledge your own achievements and qualities.
