Easter Vigil Service
This year, Spirit of Joy (along with Emanuel's and St. Andrew's) will be hosting an Easter Vigil service! We will be meeting at Central Park at 6:30pm on Saturday, April 20. This service will have it all - scripture reader's theater, fire, exciting music, mystery, and a celebration of the resurrection! We will conclude the service with a party - cake, s'mores, and cookies! Invite your friends! Please bring your own chair, and please note that the service could run up to an hour and a half, possibly a little bit longer. Hope to see you there!
HONDURAS TRIP TOOL DONATIONS
Three Spirit of Joy congregants are traveling to Honduras on Wednesday April 24, 2019. Calvin Points, Arlynn Hartfiel and Jim Dyess will lend their construction skills to the refurbishing of Proniño, aschool that will be part of the Children's Home Project.
As part of their mission, they are asking for monetary donations for the purchase of tools and supplies. These items will be purchased in Honduras (to save the cost of shipping) and will be left there for the school's use.
If you have not already contributed, and would like to, there will be a tool box for collections with the words "Tools for Honduras" on it at the Resource Table this Sunday.
Thank you in advance for your generosity and warm wishes.
ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL
Pastor Megan is teaching the "Animate: Bible" series right now for adult education, following worship! We will be exploring how the bible came to be, how we read it and understand it, and what impact it has on our lives! Come and join us!
HELP ELAINE CORDES CELEBRATE HER 92ND BIRTHDAY!
Saturday, April 27, 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Moulton City Park Pavilion (rain or shine)
Veterans Drive, Moulton, TX 77975
You may bring a friend, a side dish to share and beverages (to be placed in a large ice chest - no glass). If you only have time to stop by while on your Saturday drive to see the bluebonnets, that would be great too!
In lieu of gifts, donations will be collected by great grandson, Mason, for his charity The Weinert Locker. Needed items include school supplies, hygiene products and clothes for children in need. RSVP to: Debbie Ealy by text 210-378-6251 or email email@example.com.
The Missional River Experiment is happening!
UPDATE: 1. We have delivered a mini-fridge to Barnes thanks to the Dyesses.
2. Who is a Thrivent member who would be willing to do a $250 grant to benefit this project?
3. Keep those items coming!
Pastor Megan and Karen Wallock met with the Communities in Schools Counselors and their
supervisors to come up with a wish list for our partnership. These counselors currently serve
students at Barnes, Briesemeister and Seguin High School. We decided we don’t have to wait
for a building—we can begin this work now! Many of the ideas will take some time with much
more planning, but we can begin our support of our Seguin community with our initial collection
of socks and snacks! Beginning this Sunday, please bring whatever you can of the following:
New socks (teenager sized)
Refillable water bottles
Cheese or peanut butter cracker packs
Chips ( individual sized)
Bottled water (6-12 oz size)
Gift cards to HEB or Walmart
These are examples, so any kind of snack in individual serving sizes is great. Refrigeration is
not available at this time for these items.
Does anyone have a mini-fridge to donate?
We will be collecting more items as we get going, but we’re hoping to let these kids know now
there is someone helping them! Let’s make this happen!
Matthew 25: 35-36
“For I was hungry, and you gave me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave me
something to drink...naked, and you clothed me.”
SERVICE TRIP FOR YOUTH SET – DONATION REQUESTED
Spirit of Joy has been very generous in donating items for the Humanitarian Respite Center. They are in need of small size shoes, both in adult and in children's sizes. If sales arise on these products, please consider donating a pair or two. In April, donations will be collected for Proyecto Azteca. This organization provides neighborhood lending libraries. On the previous trip to the Rio Grande Valley, SOJ donated many books for these libraries. Books continue to be needed as lending libraries are constantly being built and set up in neighborhoods. Books of all kinds will be needed: children, teens, and adults, both in English and in Spanish. There will be a tub on the stage each Sunday for the collection of the donated books. Thank you for your generosity in the support of the youth's servant leadership program.
