Starting September 15, we are going to do an experiment with our worship times! We will do refreshments at 9:00, announcements at 9:20, and worship at 9:30, concluding at 10:30. Following worship we will move immediately into the Sunday school hour. If you have announcements to share, please have them to Sharon Villalpando no later than noon on Thursday so they can be included in our new announcement slides. We will no longer be able to accept announcements on Sunday morning unless it’s extremely time sensitive material. We ask that you experience the new schedule for 3 weeks before sharing your feedback, and then we will evaluate its effectiveness.
This fall we are kicking off some new educational opportunities for everyone at SOJ! The first Sunday of every month will be “All Church” following worship. It will include opportunities for all ages for service, recreation, creative expression, and activities to grow our faith. On September 15, 22, and 29 we will have “samplers” of All Church for you to experience. Our big official kick-off will be October 6. “Regular” Sunday school with classes for different ages will pick up on October 13. We hope you can make it!

Welcome to Council Corner! Each month, council will give a brief overview of our meeting held that month. If you have questions, please do not hesitate to ask a Council Member for more information.
·     1.    September 15th we will be instituting new worship experiences: Worship bags for the kids, Worship will begin at 9:30am, and we will start a sampler of our All Church Sunday School Hour. See weekly update in bulletin for more information.

The date for our outdoor worship has changed to Sunday, October 13, 2019.  We were in conflict with the GVCCC barbeque fundraiser on October 20.
On Sunday, August 25, the voting members present at the congregational meeting approved the following motion by a vote of 85 in favor to 4 opposed (95%):
Authorize the Spirit of Joy Council to close on the Juan Seguin Elementary School property no later than December 31, 2019 pending the satisfactory resolution, as determined by the SOJ Building Committee and SOJ Council, of title and survey studies,
Approve the expenditure of up to the amount of the building fund plus the maximum that a lender will loan the congregation for repairs and renovations to the property.
The building committee will continue to update the congregation on the status of the purchase.

We’re going to own property!
