Juan Seguin Property Purchase Update

Mark your calendars and plan to be in church on August 25th for our final vote on this  purchase.  You will receive the official notification of the congregational vote with the formal proposal by August 11th at the latest.

The due diligence tasks are proceeding at Juan Seguin Elementary.
We have hired TADA (Total Art Design and Architecture).  They are working on   conceptual drawings, ideas for parking, estimates for repair and remodeling, etc.

Inspections of the property are continuing this week.
We have received the title commitment.
Tri-County Surveyors is working on the survey.
Anne Gerrietts from Mission Investment Fund (our lender) will visit during the second week of July.

If you have questions, Sharon Villalpando and other task force members will be available before church on Sunday.  Thank you for your continued prayers as we move toward a  permanent home for Spirit of Joy.

5TH SUNDAY BENEVOLENCE – JUNE 30th
June is one of our 5th Sunday Benevolence months.  This 5th Sunday will assist three ministries in the Rio Grande Valley.  Each of these is a very worthy cause.  In 2017, SOJ youth visited each of these facilities firsthand to help and witness the need prevalent there.  Some of our youth and adults will again be traveling to these facilities during the mission trip (June 23-28).  On the 5th Sunday, itself, you will hear current information about the purpose and needs for the following ministries:  Proyecto Azteca, La Posada Providencia, and the Humanitarian Respite Center.  Your contribution on June 30 will be greatly appreciated.

Guadalupe Valley Habitat for Humanity will be accepting applications for their 2020 Homeowner Program from July 1st through July 31st. Contact Pam Sagebiel for more information.

  • Saturday, June 22, 9am - 3pm: Back-up Work Day if we don't get everything completed on the 15th.
  • Sunday, June 23, 12:30pm: We will meet in Emanuel's Lutheran Church's parking lot to load up and head out on our trip!!
  • Friday, June 28th, mid-afternoon: We will return from the trip and head back to Emanuel's parking lot for pick-up.
  • Sunday, June 30th: Spirit of Joy will be having a worship service led by the students who went on the trip.
We are also in need of new small men's underwear to take to our Respite Center.  We did good on the other items but they said most men are small that come through.  We didn't get too many men's undies. Please bring them on Sunday.
