Streetscape Project Update

While the bulk of the Streetscape Project is complete, you may notice workers placing finishing touches throughout the work zone. Some of these remaining items include pavement markings, signage, and electrical work. These improvements will be made in efforts to finalize the Project and make our City a safer and more pleasant place to live, work, and visit.

Thank you for your continued understanding throughout the entire Streetscape process. As always, please feel free to contact City Hall with any questions.

Extraordinary Service Award

This month’s Extraordinary Service Award goes to Sammy Mullis! Sammy works with the Sanitation Department for the City of Dahlonega. Ever since he began his career with the City in 1988, he has always been more than willing to lend a helping hand where ever one is needed. From cutting grass at one point in time to currently serving as a sanitation garbage truck driver, Sammy has just about done a little bit of everything around Dahlonega.

Sammy will have been with the City for 30 years now coming up on November 18, 2018. His loyalty and service to Dahlonega is a testimony to his hard work, especially when he comes in on every other Saturday morning to collect garbage. While on the job, Sammy has the opportunity to interact with many of Dahlonega's finest. In the words of Sammy, "I like my job and I like dealing with the public. When you pickup trash in residential, people are always talking to you." Sammy never fails to put his best foot forward for the Dahlonega community, and we cannot thank him enough for it.

Congratulations Sammy, you and your dedication to the City is appreciated more than you know!
The Dahlonega Plateau
We are thrilled to announce that the Dahlonega Plateau is officially eligible for an AVA (American Viticultural Area)! For those who may not know, an AVA is an elite area that is qualified to be a wine grape-growing region within the United States. The Dahlonega Plateau has been in the works for several years now, and it is finally becoming a reality. Scheduled to come to life on July 30, 2018, the much anticipated Dahlonega Plateau will be the perfect addition to Dahlonega's exquisite collection of wineries and tasting rooms.

In the meantime, celebrate this recent success by visiting a charming vineyard or taking a wine tour to see for yourself the beauty that North Georgia has to offer. For a full list of local wineries and downtown tasting rooms, please follow this link.
