Streetscape Project Update

On Tuesday morning at 1am Streetscape crews will begin work on the crosswalk on South Chestatee Street. The road is expected to be closed for 2-3 days, depending on the weather. The crosswalk on East Main Street is complete and the road is now open!

Thank you for your continued understanding as these improvements are made to our city! Please feel free to contact City Hall with any questions.
Extraordinary Service Award

This month's Extraordinary Service Award goes to Melanie Sinclair! Melanie serves as a Specialized Landscaper for the City of Dahlonega. She has worked diligently to keep Dahlonega's landscape vibrant and beautiful for almost two years now. Melanie works along side Biker Mike and Don Wilson and together, they form the "Mighty Three". This unstoppable trio works around the clock to maintain a clean and appealing Downtown. Their most recent endeavor was beautifying the landscape around the gateway signs at the entrances to the City. Currently, they are working on replanting the 65+ flower barrels Downtown with colorful summer flowers.

Congratulations Melanie, thank you for always planting such beauty around the City of Dahlonega.

 Fourth of July

The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and we want you to spend it with the City of Dahlonega! A wide range of events will take place, so you won't want to miss out on the festivities. The day will kick off with the 7th Annual Firecracker 5K, sponsored by Dahlonega Mountain Sports. Following the Firecracker 5K, the Downtown Development Authority will be hosting a Patriotic Ceremony and Parade. The Patriotic Ceremony will reflect Dahlonega's developed military background. If you're a lover of classic cars, the Dahlonega Car Club Car Show will also be taking place throughout the day. The day will end with a colorful bang, thanks to fireworks being sponsored by Chamber of Commerce.

If you've ever spent your Fourth of July in Dahlonega, then you know how special of a time it is. We look forward to celebrating with you!

Yellow Daisy Bed & Breakfast

Join us in welcoming Dahlonega’s newest local inn, the Yellow Daisy Bed & Breakfast! Located just 2 blocks off the Square, this adorable B&B has developed into the perfect getaway. The Yellow Daisy began its journey in September of 2017. Since then, the owners of the B&B, Joe and Ellen Mirakovits, have wasted no time in making this 1915 farmhouse come to life.

The Yellow Daisy started out as a residential area, but with careful planning, it was rezoned to a commercial area through the approval of the Planning Commission. The Mirakovits then had to apply for a business license to operate as a lodging facility. Upon receiving their license, the next necessary step was to achieve a building permit. The building permit was necessary to make the renovations the Yellow Daisy needed in order to be fully operational as a bed and breakfast. Once the renovations were inspected and approved, the permit was ready to be signed. All that was left to do then was to inquire about meeting the appropriate parking requirements for a B&B.

The Ribbon Cutting with the Dahlonega-Lumpkin Chamber of Commerce took place last Wednesday on May 16th and was a grand success. The Yellow Daisy is officially open for business, so don’t hesitate to treat yourself to a little vacation, right here in Downtown Dahlonega.
