What's next?

Hopefully you are well! In this full-to-the-brim newsletter we share our love for classical music improvisation with you! Click the links in the blurb below to go directly to the item of your interest, or just SCROLL through and find your way :).

We celebrate a year on YouTube, looking back at the year 2020 and our Beethoven concert, some Dvorakcelebrating improvisers from the past and showing you what our conservatory students have been up to!

Meanwhile there are A LOT of courses coming up all over Europe, have a look here!

Finally, we have made the huge step of starting a "stichting", a foundation. Have a glass of celebratory fluid and cheers us on our brand-new Stichting Klassieke Muziek Nederland, a next step in professionalising and hopefully getting more funding!
We are still looking for board members, let us know if you would be interested!

Many musically improvised greetings to you!

The Scroll Ensemble -
Robert & James

1 Year on YouTube!

It's been a (little over a) year since we started regularly posting on YouTube. What was that like? James talks in the forrest and we share some unseen clips !
A huge thank you to our families for dealing with all the time it takes to make our videos and their help emotionally, technically, creatively... :)

You can still help us by joining, sharing, liking and commenting! :)
Whilst we are going down memory lane: a little peek at our Beethoven premier from last year
Oboe - Robert de Bree, Violin - James Hewitt, Piano - Artem Belogurov
A little excerpt of an improvisation on Dvorak's New World Symphony

Stichting Klassieke Muziek  Improvisatie Nederland!

Although the notary wondered whether it was good timing (HAHA), we have finally made the step to set up a foundation for our work. The foundation will give us the opportunity to get funding for bigger projects and for donors to receive tax cuts on their donations!

We are in the process of finding board members, let us know if you are interested in joining, or if you know someone who might be interested!

Celebrating improvisers from the past!

In this series we tell you about well-known and lesser known improvisers from the past, based on biographies, letters, references, theory books and more, we paint a picture specifically relating to improvisation in classical music. In this series we are making up for lost time and celebrating 2020 centenaries we missed for Anton Reicha, Jacob Potholt, Hazel Scott, Emily Dickinson and more! Find the playlist here

Student Improvisation Projects

James and Robert teach improvisation at the conservatory in The Hague. The second semester of their class consists of personal projects. In this video some of our students show what they have been up to in the last few months! A HUGE thank you to our students for their willingness to participate on our channel and for their beautiful creativity all year long!
