SHAQUILLE O'NEAL VISITS VISIBLE MEN ACADEMY
On Wednesday, January 16th, VMA Suns had a special visit from retired professional basketball player, Shaquille O'Neal! Shaq is a sports analyst on the television program Inside the NBA on TNT. He is widely considered one of the greatest players in the history of the National Basketball Association.

O' Neal was in Sarasota as a part of the Ringling
College Town Hall lecture series and stopped by VMA to surprise the boys and give them some words of encouragement.

PARENTS LEARN ABOUT THE FLORIDA STATE ASSESSMENT
On Wednesday, January 16th, VMA parents learned how to best equip their students for the upcoming Florida State Assessment (FSA). Assistant Head of School, Mrs. Mickens reviewed best practices for overall success on the FSA which included studying, arriving to school on time, eating a nutritious breakfast, and getting plenty of sleep. Third, Fourth, and Fifth grade teachers then spoke with parents on specific academic areas of the FSA. Testing begins in April and will run until May.
VMA SUNS ATTEND BRIAN ROBERTS
YOUTH BASEBALL CLINIC
VMA Suns had a very special Saturday Success on January 12th. Approximately 50 Visible Men Academy students arrived by bus to the first Youth Baseball Clinic hosted by two time Major League Baseball All Star, Brian Roberts. The clinic was held at the fields at Newtown Estates in Sarasota. Major League Baseball players, coaches, and the Florida International Baseball Academy taught participants the fundamentals of baseball. Lunch was provided and a great time was had by all!

Third Graders received their Kid Power Bands thanks to Donors who gave to their last project. Students will wear them every day and their footsteps and movements are sent to UNICEF through the bands, and those movements help send therapeutic food packets to malnourished children around the world.
