The Watershed Project is waiting on better weather after several members helped with initial installation of the Balance Streams part of the project.  The heavy work on the Balance Streams is done, but the joints between logs representing branches of the Boise River and large stumps representing the reservoirs on the river need to be finished.  The other parts the club is helping with have not been started except for some initial planning completed earlier.

New Business

There was some discussion at the end of the meeting about presentation topics for the upcoming year and who might do them. Next month, Scott Taylor will talk about bent lamination.

Show & Tell

Don Blasdell had a tissue holder of quarter sawn white oak assembled with box joints with unequal fingers, and a birdseye maple earring box.

Bruce Johnstone showed a one of a set of handles he is making for a set of screwdrivers.  Each fastener type (Philips, square drive, flat blade) will have handles of a different type of wood.

Brian Bass had a scroll saw puzzle he made as a Woodcraft demo project.

Don Blasdell made a presentation on a technique for making box joints with unequal finger widths.

He showed his machine for making the joints.  It is a box with an mdf top having a metal runner inserted in it.  Two routers are mounted underneath with different bits to cut the spaces between the fingers.  The routers can be moved slightly to adjust the distance of the cutter from the runner.  A fence runs along the runner to hold the workpieces.  One half of the joint is cut with one router, and the other half with the other router.  The machine and technique are based on a Rob Cosman design.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:12 PM.
