Three weeks ago The Initiative was launched at Green Lake, Wisconsin, June 24-28. After two years of prayer, rigorous planning and deep anticipation the first meeting finally took place. We had nearly 70 friends gather for three-plus days of warm conversation, earnest prayer, serious learning and wonderful sharing. I will provide a fuller account of our gathering in several future ACT3 Weekly articles. Today, I’m writing to update you on the changes now unfolding with ACT3 Network as we become The Initiative in less than two months.
First, on September 1, 2018, the name of ACT3 will be legally changed to The Initiative. This means checks must be made out to The Initiative after August 31. We were able to retain our current Tax ID and non-profit status, but we are preparing to move to the new name publicly on September 1.
Second, I will be reminding you week-by-week that the ACT3 Weekly is coming to an end this summer. We do not presume that all of you who receive this email each Monday will want to receive emails from The Initiative. For this reason we want to reduce our mailing list and be ethical about this transition. If you want to be on the email list for The Initiative then you need to sign up for this new list at http://eepurl.com/dA5GqH
Third, there is now a Facebook page for The Initiative. We urge you to LIKE this page and follow us if you use Facebook. Almost daily we will add content to this page. We hope to fully remodel www.theinitiative.org before September 1. The address for our brand new Facebook page is https://www.facebook.com/The-Initiative-870416703150502/?modal=admin_todo_tour
Finally, various interviews, messages and resources which were recorded on video at Green Lake will be on the website and the Facebook page as they become available. We are not able to do this task quickly, but you will be able to see and hear much that happened at Green Lake in the coming months.
If you are interested in joining us at Green Lake next year, the dates are June 23-27, 2019. Plan now. We will provide registration information after January 1.
In the months ahead I will personally devote much time to working on this transition and traveling to various cities to provide firsthand information about The Initiative. I welcome your invitations. No group is too small and no person is unimportant in the work of this vision. You can reach me directly by email at email@example.com.
ACT3 This Week
- As noted above, I am working on many aspects of our transition to The Initiative this week. Pray for clarity and strength.
- I have several appointments this week with friends who are praying about their role in The Initiative. A noted academic scholar of ecumenism recently said, “The future of all ecumenical work needs to be local and grassroots if this vision of John 17:21 is to be effectively pursued.” This is exactly what I believe, thus I am devoting all my energy to this work in the coming twelve months.
