On Thursday 17 October we are holding a Dalston futures meeting:  6.30pm at the Trinity Centre Beechwood Road E8 3DY (the centre is at the Forest Road end of Beechwood Road.   http://www.thetrinitycentredalston.org.uk/)

Earlier this year we organised the Dalston People’s Festival to show what can be done when our community gets organised. Although it was very much about arts and culture, it was amazing to find over 100 people getting involved in making it work.

Now we are having a discussion about how we organise a permanent, inclusive, community organisation in Dalston that is capable of identifying its collective needs and organising to ensure that decision makers cannot ignore the community. Sounds exciting? Come along.

We have already been listening to the community in Dalston and the following are amongst the ‘hot topics’:
  • Affordability of homes/housing generally
  • Community cohesion
  • Coping with rapid change/not being pushed out by regeneration
  • Creating more beauty in our informal communal spaces
  • Healthy lives - physical & mental
  • Jobs
  • Keeping the Eastern Curve garden/Ridley Road
  • Maintaining an environment where small businesses flourish
  • Planning issues
  • Population
  • Poverty & local inequality
  • Schools
  • Transport

If you are from Dalston, then please:
  • Come along to the meeting and get involved
  • help us leaflet the whole of the area to ensure we are speaking to the whole community
