Last week on Facebook, we urged people to sign our petition to Governor Andrew Cuomo to support a statewide ban on single-use plastic foam containers. And the response has been fantastic! Nearly 1,000 people have engaged with us, almost 300 have shared it with their own networks, and nearly 200 new members have joined Environmental Advocates as a result.
We can’t wait to loop all these new folks into our work because it is the power of our members that holds Albany accountable, breaks the logjam on environmental protections, and stops bad proposals from gaining ground.
So we have a challenge for YOU, our existing members: let’s show those who are just joining Environmental Advocates what we can do together. For every new member who has signed our petition, we challenge four existing members to add their name. With your action today, we can ramp up our efforts to ban plastic foam containers and send a message to the Governor and our state legislators that it’s time to get this waste – that is not reusable or recyclable – off our streets and out of our waterways.
