A preview of 2016-17 sustainability initiatives:

Building Ratings Support Strategic Improvements
This year's annual Cardinal Green Buildings campaign will include building sustainability performance ratings to help the campus prioritize sustainability improvements. The ratings evaluate each building’s sustainability performance in six categories (energy, water, waste, purchasing, transportation, and occupant engagement), which combine into an overall weighted average score.
My Cardinal Green Aims to Inspire Individual Action
Hundreds of campus members increased their personal sustainability over the summer while participating in the My Cardinal Green pilot. The program recognizes and rewards participants for sustainable behaviors and will be offered campus-wide later this year.
Business Systems Prioritizes Conservation Efforts
Sustainable Stanford's data-driven approach continues to yield quantifiable savings for the university. Business systems initiatives in 2016-17 will include new technology deployments and data systems trainings, and will allow Stanford to maintain vigilance on resource consumption and efficiency across campus. Learn More
Expanded Opportunities for Cardinal Green Labs
More than 150 labs participated in one or more Cardinal Green Labs initiatives during the program's inaugural year. With the support of cross-campus partnerships, this year the Cardinal Green Labs program will be testing new solutions for lab-specific waste and expanding its equipment rebate program. Learn More

Sustainability Champion of the Month
Eliana Vasquez, Political Science
Eliana Vasquez is all about NO waste at Stanford. Nominated by a colleague who describes her as a 'one-woman recycling center', Eliana's daily actions have helped reduce her department's total landfill. Coffee grounds are always composted, office supplies never go in the trash, and weekly meetings are now free of single-use water bottles. She also led the charge on transitioning Political Science to the desk side recycling and mini trashcan program. Keep up the great work, Eliana!
