Dr. Zeinin shares about Chiropractic and the nervous system connection...

The magnificence of the body never ceases to amaze me! Many people don't realize that the brain and the nervous system have a very intimate connection and all bodily functions, voluntary and involuntary, are controlled by the Nervous System.

If that nervous system is not working properly then there is potential dis–ease in the body!

The nervous system can be taxed in a multitude of ways and our ability to withstand and adapt to constant stimuli truly determines our health and well being. Many don't realize that stimuli on our bodies can come in the form(s) of 1. Physical stressors - the things we do with our bodies; work postures, computer ergonomics, exercise, posture etc. 2. Mental stressors - life, love, divorce, work relationships, deadlines, weddings, funerals and 3. Chemical stressors - what we put into our bodies in the form of food, alcohol, cigarettes, drugs, and even vitamin supplementation.

Recognize that all these things are working within our system. Chiropractic provides an approach to suggest that if the nervous system is in charge of all these things and if it is in some way irritated or improperly functioning then it is the chiropractor’s responsibility to find the source and area in the nervous system where things are irritated. An adjustment will restore the proper structure of the body to allow the function to be expressed fully. We as chiropractors don't do any of the healing! The body heals itself when a facilitation has taken place to correct the area of dis–ease. Isn't that AMAZING? Some sites take longer to correct, depending on how long issues have been present, hence it generally takes more than one adjustment to correct things. I like to tell first-time clients that after their first adjustment we want one of two things... 1) improvement or 2) worsening! These two responses suggest that there is room for improvement and the body made attempts at a correction. Indifference or no change suggests long-term irritation and it may take much longer to correct an area! It's important to have a great working relationship with your chiropractor for optimal awareness of what's going on. The chiropractor’s role is to help you understand the intricacies of your body’s healing and help you in your way to better health, awareness, knowledge and well being!

If you have a spine, you will benefit from getting it checked by the experts that deal with the entire body inside and out! Find the source of the problem and make corrections so that you are able to be your very best self!!

Yours in great health!

Registered Massage Therapist Erin Anello tells us that the question that she is asked the most is: How often should I come for a massage treatment? Erin recommends once every 3-4 weeks to maintain range of motion, joint mobility and to reduce everyday stress. Regular massage has tremendous benefits including a decrease in stress, decrease in muscle tension, decrease in chronic fatigue or pain, decrease in or elimination of headaches, to name just a few.

Regular massage therapy is not just to relax, when used on a regular basis, it can help maintain a happier, healthier body which in turn leads to more energy, less stress and ultimately a better quality of life. Most people who have never had a massage say " What on Earth took me so long?!”

Chiropractic Assistant Deserae would like you to know - Getting an adjustment when under the weather can help boost your immune system and help you fight off what’s ailing you. As much as we appreciate your concern for not wanting to share your germs with us, it is important to remember the immune boosting benefits a chiropractic adjustment can provide. With regular chiropractic care, you can ensure your nervous system is functioning optimally so that should you become ill with the cold or flu, your body is in a much better place to manage the symptoms and potentially reduce the severity.

Chiropractic Assistant Hollie wants you to know that you may be in need of an adjustment even if you are not in pain. In most cases, subluxations in the spine occur long before you feel pain as a symptom. Regular maintenance is key for optimal health. Just like regular oil changes for your car or routine dental check-ups. Your spine needs to be checked and aligned regularly.

Debra Taylor of London Laser is asked frequently “Does Laser Therapy Hurt?” What does the treatment feel like? There is little or no sensation during treatment. Occasionally one feels mild, soothing warmth. There is no pain associated with the treatment. Laser treatment is relaxing and some people even fall asleep. On the other hand, it sometimes occurs that pain can increase or begin 6-24 hours after a treatment session. This is because the laser light starts the healing process. This type of pain is particularly likely to arise when the health problems are chronic in their nature. It usually subsides after a short time.

Naturopathic Doctor Tiffany Eberhard is often asked: I think I have a thyroid problem but my test results are normal. Are there are other tests and natural treatment available that can help address my thyroid issue?
This is a common concern and very frustrating for those who are told everything is normal but still feel unwell. I have access to thyroid testing through Life Labs and Dynacare and will run various tests to make sure the thyroid is functioning properly. I use a narrower range for results and will treat before it gets to the end range.
There are many naturopathic approaches for thyroid conditions depending on the root cause of the dysfunction. These include dietary changes, increasing specific nutrients that are required for proper thyroid function, looking at other body systems that can affect thyroid function such as the adrenal glands, and using desiccated thyroid from a compounding pharmacy in cases where thyroid supplementation is desired and needed.
