Counting Down to the 2nd Annual UTeach Alumni Conference


UTeach Alumni ConferencePlans are in high gear for UTeach in the Real World, the 2nd Annual UTeach Alumni Conference, July 9-10 in Austin. Check out what's in store for you, and register by May 31 to get the Early Bird Rate.
  • Professional learning sessions created for you by other alumni of UTeach programs across the country, designed to bring you back to your roots in UTeach.
  • Keynote speaker Michael Ralph will talk about how UTeach alumni can build more engaging and effective classrooms centered on fostering student success. Michael is a UKanTeach alumnus and cofounder of Biology Rocks.
  • The Great Idea Swap will give you the chance to learn about new resources from fellow alumni, preview Friday's educational sessions, and visit our exhibitors. It's not too late to participate in this exciting part of the conference! Visit the Great Idea Swap webpage for a link to sign up. Hurry, space is limited!
  • Resources to help get you to the conference include a downloadable flyer (pdf) to give your principal to help get funding for registration.
  • Welcome Reception, generously sponsored by the Three Rivers Foundation, at Aloft Austin at The Domain on July 9 will give you the chance to connect with new and old friends from UTeach programs across the country.
Hotel Information
We've secured a limited number of reduced-rate hotel rooms to make your trip to Austin more affordable. Book your room before June 17 for the best selection and price. Free shuttles will run between these hotels and the Commons Learning Center.

Alumni News


Eduardo Beato, UTeach UMass Lowell alumnus and math teacher, was named Teacher of the Year at Chelmsford High School in Chelmsford, Massachusetts.

David Robinson, UTeach Austin alumnus and robotics teacher at Murchison Middle School in Austin, Texas, led two teams of students to the Vex World Championship robotics competition.

Jill Griffin Hutson, UTeach Austin alumna, was selected as the campus "Teacher of Promise" at the Liberal Arts and Science Academy in Austin, Texas.

NMSI’s UTeach Expansion Program:
Laying the Foundation Summer Training Opportunities


FREE LTF Summer Institute Registration + Travel Reimbursement

UTeach alumni are eligible to attend one of NMSI’s four-day Laying the Foundation (LTF) Program Summer Institutes at no cost and to receive a travel reimbursement to defray associated costs.


Induction Scholarships

A limited number of induction scholarships are available that include travel funds to attend an LTF Summer Institute, a science or math kit with supplies to assist teachers in implementing LTF lessons, and assistance from an online mentor during the school year.
