Retreat Recap
SOUTH RETREAT
Yoga by the lake. Bumping to Bollywood for breakfast. Interregional mafia stories. Late night quesadillas. Nothing, not even the rain, stops South Retreat...except maybe the dolls!
SOUTHEAST RETREAT
The Southeast Retreat brought attendees to the scenic Smoky Mountains which served as the backdrop for discussions on what Jainism and the Navkar Mantra meant to them. Six entertaining skits brought the leshyas to life and colorful blankets were prepared as a part of the service project. Incredible views on the hike to Laurel Falls and activities like the Circle of Appreciation made this retreat a memorable one!
WEST RETREAT
37 attendees dove into meaningful discussions about Jainism and the environment, developed surveys to measure the impact of Jainism on the YJA community and proposed six diverse social impact projects for the West region. To top it off, they enjoyed countless games of mafia and even garba at 3 AM!

A World Without Violence
On March 21st, the Jain Students Association at UC Berkeley and YJA launched A World Without Violence. This week-long photo campaign sought to forge a global commitment towards non-violence, a fundamental tenet of Jainism and many other value systems. In solidarity with groups from multiple faiths, this initiative was a reminder that we should aim to amend the fear and misunderstanding that has torn religious communities apart. All funds raised from this photo campaign will be donated to National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), the nation's largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to educating about Mental Health Issues and providing support to those in need.
