West Can Food Drive
The holidays are here and so is the season of giving. As a Jain community, it is our duty to help those in need. Every year thousands of individuals die from starvation. Keeping this in mind, Paras Shah, in collaboration with Young Jains of America and Second Harvest Food Bank, has organized a Can Food Drive at JCNC. Please bring JAIN canned food to JCNC! The food drive will continue on until late January. Our goal this year is 500 pounds of food! The barrels are located near the back entrance of JCNC to the left.
Please avoid foods in glass containers and make sure the food you bring is Jain (no garlic, onions, potatoes, carrots, and 100% vegetarian)

Thank you for your support. For additional information, feel free to contact Paras Shah or west@yja.org for more information.

Logassa Challenge

Jai Jinendra YJA SoCal! It's time to get our Jain On!!
Next to the Navkaar Mantra, the Logassa Sutra is the most widely used sutra in Jain prayers. It is a poem that praises the virtues of the Tirthankars and expresses our desire to be like them. You may already know how to say the Logassa sutra in its entirety or you may know some of it but need to practice a little to be able to recite it.
Here is your chance to take another step towards your spiritual journey and also benefit the Jain Center. The sutra is only 14 lines long and you will be able to win a donation of $10 for the JCSC. You will also have your name printed on the Logassa Challenge Board once you have completed the challenge. Everyone can be part of this community-wide challenge.
Each person that completes the challenge can nominate three others to do the same. Between November and June 2015, we are targeting 1500 members to take the challenge to raise $15,000 for the Jain Center.
