Upcoming Events

Save the Date - YJA Regional Retreats

  • Mid-West (Feb. 7-9) - #MidBest14 is coming up! Free up calender space from February 7-9, because we're going to have a Windy City Scavenger Hunt, vegan cook-offs, and amazing sessions. It's gonna be dope.
  • Mid-Atlantic/Northeast (Feb. 15-17) - Get excited for the Mid-Atlantic/Northeast Poconos Retreat! #Poco14 will be held February 15-17. Get ready for a fun filled weekend of good food, good friends, and skiing! Can't wait to see you all there :)
  • West (March 21-23) - Grab your calendars and mark off March 21-23rd for the West Retreat! Get ready for vegan baking, awesome sessions and much more at this years retreat. Can't wait to see you all there!

Leaving a Jain Footprint: A YJA Webinar
We've talked a lot about Jain principles and concepts. Ahimsa. Anekantvad. Aparigraha. But what's the next step? How can you put these principles into practice and leave your mark on society? Join us for a webinar on Sunday, January 26 at 3:00 pm EST/2:00 pm CST/1:00 pm MST/12:00 pm PST featuring Hetali Lodaya and Shikhar Shah, who will give all sorts of advice on how to get involved in our communities, the Jain way.

1. Word limit: 250-500 words. Be sure you have a title for your article.
2. Please include a picture of you and any other graphics/pics that relate to your article.
3. Please email your article in a Word attachment or in-text email to youngminds@yja.org. The deadline for articles is Saturday, February 1st, 2014 at 11:59 p.m. (Eastern Standard Time).
4. The theme for this issue is: Compassion – which is strictly optional.
5. Be creative, have fun, and be yourself!

"2013. What a year. Out of all the years, this one has been the most challenging, yet most memorable. A person does not really know what they are capable of until they are put in some of the weirdest situations...
 
I learned that there were aspects of me I wasn’t happy with. There were days I just sat in my bed angry at myself for what I was becoming. I then realized that just sitting here thinking about it wouldn’t do anything. I had to take action. That is what I plan on doing for 2014. I plan to be more proactive. I plan to do what I have kept putting on the back burner."
