Looking to improve the culture of recess at your school?  Looking for free resources?  Blue Cross and Blue Shield of RI, in partnership with the RI Healthy Schools Coalition, is offering a FREE Playworks Playshop recess training program on November 5th.

This training is designed to empower participants to transform recess and solve many common recess challenges, including indoor recess.  Great for principals, classroom teachers, recess staff, parent volunteers and PE Teachers! More information and registration

 
Farm Fresh Rhode Island is excited that EVERY school district in RI has signed up for Harvest of the Month - a local foods marketing & promotion campaign for all RI cafeterias. Each month we promote a seasonal vegetable and/or fruit with with colorful posters & stickers for students, as well as advice on where to source the featured items. September was RI-grown tomatoes and cucumbers and October will be RI-grown peppers. Check out the October Harvest of the Month newsletter!

International Walk to School Day is a global event that has been celebrated annually in 40 countries and 50 states since 1997. Students participate by walking or biking to school, with the goal of encouraging and supporting physical activity in a fun and safe way. Walk to School Day this year will be Wednesday, October 7, 2015.

Food Day inspires Americans to change their diets and our food policies. Every October 24, thousands of events all around the country bring Americans together to celebrate and enjoy real food and to push for improved food policies. October 24 is a day to resolve to make changes in our own diets and to take action to solve food-related problems in our communities at the local, state, and national level. In 2015, Food Day has the theme "Toward a Greener Diet."  More information
