If I Were Brave
"If I Were Brave" - Jana Stanfield

"What would I do, if I knew that I could not fail?
If I believed, would the wind always fill up my sail?
How far would I go? What could I achieve,
trusting the hero in me?

If I were brave, I’d walk the razor’s edge,
where fools and dreamers dare to tread.
I'd never lose faith, even when losing my way.
What step would I take today, if I were brave?

What would I do today, if I were brave?
What would I do today, if I were brave?

What if we’re all meant to do what we secretly dream?
What would you ask, if you knew you could have anything?
Like the mighty oak sleeps, in the heart of a seed,
are there miracles in you and me?

If I were brave, I’d walk the razor’s edge,
where fools and dreamers dare to tread.
I'd never lose faith, even when losing my way.
What step would I take today, if I were brave?

What would I do today, if I were brave?
What would I do today, if I were brave?

If I refuse to listen to the voice of fear,
would the voice of courage whisper in my ear?

If I were brave, I’d walk the razor’s edge,
where fools and dreamers dare to tread.
I'd never lose faith, even when losing my way.
What step would I take today, if I were brave?

What would I do today, if I were brave?
What would I do today, if I were brave?"

Those of you who've come to dance the past two weeks may recognize the lyrics to this song by Jana Stanfield from the new Nia routine, Beautiful. I fell in love with this routine the moment I pressed "play" on the DVD player. Winalee Zeeb, the creator of this routine, crafted a gorgeous and emotionally rich movement experience that truly lifted my spirit, moved me to tears and compelled me to move my body with great compassion. The routine unfolds like a series of dancing affirmations with song titles like "Bring it On, Open to Receive, Living in the Flow and If I Were Brave." Those are just a few. I thank you for experiencing this routine with me in these early weeks of a new year. I was brave (!!) enough to teach the routine as I was learning it and I love that we got to be in beginners mind and body together. I plan to teach is again in the Spring. This week, we are FEELING

On January 1, 2015, eleven of us gathered at The Dance Space to choose tarot cards and dance our collective and individual readings. It was divine!! Here is summary of the experience, including the reading and the playlist we danced to:
