Reclaimed
"The river is constantly turning and bending and you never know where it's going to go and where you'll wind up. Following the bend in the river and staying on your own path means that you are on the right track. Don't let anyone deter you from that."
- Eartha Kitt

I am back from the Healing the Heart retreat in Carlsbad, CA. On my first morning in Carlsbad, I left my hotel room around 7am and decided to go for a walk. I was pondering the heaviness in my heart and how I felt like I have been stuck in the dark for too long when I turned the corner and was greeted by a blazing sun. I respond to symbology so I paused, closed my eyes for a moment, opened them and said aloud, "yes, I am ready to feel lighter and brighter" and stepped towards the sunshine.

The experience at the retreat was powerfully transformative, so much so that I don't quite have the words to articulate what I unfolded and ultimately how I got to return home feeling aligned, strengthened and whole. The word that comes to mind is "reclaimed."

When I returned home, feeling like I'd reclaimed lost or hidden parts of myself, I quickly learned that my Embodied Tarot website was down due something called a DDOS attack. It doesn't matter what that is because it took my website down for days and during that time I was so angry I thought I'd lose my mind and I felt helpless to fix it. Then, during angry meditation (seriously, try it - it works!), I heard a whisper that said "Reclamation means integration." I scratched my head a few times and was then flooded with understanding. After decades of reinforcing a pattern of siloing myself, I've been hesitant to claim all that I am and do in one space. The downed website was the push I needed.

I had purchased the domain for www.jenniferluceroearle.com six months ago. I had a plan to save money, hire a web designer, contract to get a logo, and work with a content manager to launch the site by the end of this year. The DDOS attack became the lemons for my lemonade. I quickly found a new website host and stayed up until the middle of the night to create the "bones" and initial content for my website. While it's a work in progress and will evolve over the next several months, I am so proud to introduce my new website that includes all of my movement class offerings, the tarot counseling work that I do and my beautiful supportive partnership with Nyawela Consulting. And, this morning I even figured out how to add a calendar to the site! Welcome to the world, www.jenniferluceroearle.com

I am excited to dance with you this month. Our focus for all February classes is the heart center <3.

During this three week series we will explore the archetype of The Lovers and the associated minor arcana cards (6 or Air, 6 of Water, 6 of Fire and 6 of Earth). In the tarot, the Lovers card represents the archetype of the love. More than an archetype of romantic love, the Lovers is about how we grow through the mirror of relationship, with ourselves and with others. It’s also about the choices we make to follow the call of our heart’s desire. This archetype is a rich exploration of passion, partnership, choice and saying yes to the power of love.

Once a month we will gather to listen to the embodied wisdom of a tarot archetype. Using questions asked through the voice of the archetype, we will pick cards that bring tarot wisdom to life through our bodies. Enjoy the transformative experience of sensing your cards come to life through your unique dance. The movement will be guided and paired with tarot-inspired music.  On February 27 we explore a path to healing through the tarot card of The Lovers, the archetype of love. More than an archetype of romantic love, the Lovers is about how we grow through the mirror of relationship, with ourselves and with others. It’s also about the choices we make to follow the call of our heart’s desire. This archetype is a rich exploration of passion, partnership, choice and saying yes to the power of love. No tarot or dance experience required. All are welcome. Tarot decks will be provided for use during the workshop but feel free to bring your own deck if you have one.

And save the date! The next ArcanaDance mini-retreat is scheduled for Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Embrace the Moon in Ballard and we are diving in to The Magician, the archetype of the visionary! The Magician invites us to access our imagination and to see endless potential and possibility in every aspect of our lives. And then, the great Magician doesn't just visualize it, she puts a plan into motion. More information to come.

With love, warmth and light,
Jennifer
