Honoring what has passed
“Love recognizes no barriers. It jumps hurdles, leaps fences, penetrates walls to arrive at its destination full of hope.”
- Maya Angelou

A short-ish newsletter to remind you that there will be no Nia classes on Thursday, July 28 and Monday, August 1st. I will be back to teach on Thursday, August 4 at 6:00pm at Embrace the Moon in Ballard. I am heading out of town to celebrate my 15th wedding anniversary. I am so excited to spend some time road tripping and adventuring with the love of my life. Squeal!

I am also fresh off of a truly amazing weekend of tarot journaling. The workshop invigorated my own journaling practice! What emerged in my writing was powerful anniversaries and life passages that appear in late July-August: a celebration of 15 years of marriage, my six year Nia-versary (teaching), ArcanaDance becoming a toddler, leaving my UW job two years ago, embracing a new path, the death of my grandfather, the death of my father, the birth of two of my nephews and birth of my niece. As I journaled to the question "How can I honor what has passed?" I chose the card to the right, the Guardian of Water from the Gaian Tarot. She spoke to me of taking it to the water. As I place my feet into the Pacific Ocean this week, I will honor the joy, grief and wonder of each of these moments, milestones, memories and people in my life.

Is there a particular month or season that brings up powerful memories for you? How do you honor these memories, milestones and moments? I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to email me at

Below are some announcements for the weeks ahead!

Nia with Susan Tate this Sunday, July 31, 2016
While I am away this weekend, you are in for such a treat! Susan Tate will be sharing the Nia routine, Sanctuary, on Sunday. I was very lucky to have the opportunity to experience this exquisite routine with Susan this afternoon.

Here's a short video of our class together. The music for this routine is by the London Philharmonic - it truly takes your mind, body, heart and spirit on a journey. You will love it!

Join Susan this Sunday, July 31 at 10:30am at Balance Studio in Fremont. Drop-in for $15 or use your class card with me. I will see you all on Sunday, August 7th for my Nia-versary class, celebrating six years of teaching :)!

The Dance of the High Priestess: A Somatic Exploration of Intuition

ArcanaDance celebrates its first anniversary in August. I thought it was only fitting to return to the first series I taught last year. Even if you attended the first series, this one will be different as ArcanaDance has experienced a beautiful evolution and deepening over the past year.

The High Priestess is one of my favorite archetypes. To me she represents not only feminine wisdom and intuition, to me she also embodies the bridge between tarot and the body. She reminds us that we can tap into our inner knowing through the body and that there is a universe of inner and outer oracles that guide our way through the world.

The Dance of the High Priestess ArcanaDance series:
Dates: Sundays, August 14, 21 and 28, 2016
Time: 9:00am – 10:15am
Location: Balance Studio (Fremont),
418 N. 35th St, Seattle, WA 98103
Cost: $45 for series, $15 drop-in, or class card with Jennifer.
Payment: Cash, Check, Credit or PayPal

In the tarot, the High Priestess card represents the archetype of the awakened and intuitive mind. The High Priestess invites us to connect with our inner knowing, our intuition.

This is the perfect archetype to explore when you are seeking ways to access and honor your inner truth. In this series, you will discover the ways intuition speaks to you through your body. Rooted in this inner knowing, you will find that you can navigate your life in a way that is deeply self-honoring.

A Tarot Mini-Retreat with the Hanged Man card: The Art of Letting Go

In the tarot, the Hanged Man card represents the archetype of surrender. When we drop our resistance and impulse to control, we expand our possibilities.
