Imagine a Woman...
"Imagine a woman who authors her own life.
A woman who exerts, initiates,
and moves on her own behalf.
Who refuses to surrender except to
her truest self and wisest voice.
- Patricia Lynn Reilly

The quote above comes from one of my favorite poems titled "Imagine a Woman" by Patricia Lynn Reilly. You can read it in its entirety here. I was introduced to this poem in 1999, when the book by the same title was released.

I chose the excerpt above to reflect a practice in ArcanaDance that I love. An ArcanaDance class has three parts: the introduction to the archetype and the expression of it we will be experiencing, insightful questions about how the archetype influences our lives and how we can shift our relationship with that influence (using tarot cards), and then we dance the story of the archetype and weave in the story of our old experience and the new experience we'd like to claim in our lives.

I call this process "storyshifting." In the spirit of authoring our own lives, we thank the stories that have shaped us, ask our wisest self how we can create a new story, and then we create the somatic patterning for the new story in our bodies. With guided movement, ArcanaDance asks us to surrender to the movement of our truest and wisest voice.

It was this realization that inspired me to use my voice to share this little video about ArcanaDance. Full disclosure, I am extremely camera shy! I'd always rather be behind the camera than in front of one. But the ArcanaDance series on Strength taught me that I need to muster up the courage to be seen. So many of you have asked for more information about ArcanaDance and videos to watch online. I am putting a plan together to offer some online options but knew I needed to get comfortable with the camera first. Please enjoy this short six-minute video. It does not include movement, yet. That's coming soon! :)

In the tarot, the Empress card represents the archetype of the mother. The mother is the source of feminine strength, unconditional love, nurturance, nourishment, and creativity. When we explore this archetype, we access the ability to heal and become the vital source of our own self-care and nourishment of mind, body, heart and spirit. Together, we will use tarot as a guide to heal old stories,
dance the mother within, and
claim our selves as the ultimate
source of nourishment.
The address will be provided upon registration. Simply email me to register.
