All that I am
All that I see
All that I’ve been and all that I’ll ever be
Is a blessing
It’s so amazing
And I’m grateful for it all, for it all

Happy autumn!

I returned from my Nia Black Belt training on September 26h. As I mentioned in my previous newsletter, the focus of Black Belt was Unlimited Creativity. There were 52 of us from around the world including my lovely Puget Sound Nia colleagues, Melanie McFarland, Jennifer Kraft and Kelda Vath. I was doubly excited that my white belt trainer, Britta Von Tagen, came to graduation to celebrate with us.

The word that comes up for me in describing the Black Belt experience is "returning." This powerful belt returned me to beginners mind, helped me to see where and how I need to deepen and grow my Nia practice and showed me that I have everything I need to create the magic I desire, almost returning to a childlike state of wonder. My first class back in Seattle was on Sunday, September 27th. I am so thankful for those of you that came and joined me as I taught my first class as a Black Belt. <3.
When I returned home from class on Sunday afternoon, I learned that my 46 year old cousin, Raul, in Argentina had died the day before. When I spoke with my mother, she was heartbroken and reminded me to enjoy every day of this one precious life. She also shared with me that my aunt has been diagnosed with breast cancer, thankfully caught in an early stage. As my birthday month approaches, I have chosen "grateful" as my word-theme of the year. Grateful also happens to the title of one of the 2016 Nia routines that we had the great pleasure of preview-experiencing during Black Belt. The routine includes one of the songs Liziah and I have used for Stretch and Fly Yoga Dance, enjoy it here:

With grateful as the verb the shepherds me into my 40's, I want to say thank you for your support this year, especially as there were so many changes to my schedule. I am pausing on adding another Nia class until late fall/early winter so that I can maintain my creative focus on ArcanaDance and on sustaining the space I've created in my life for slow(er) cultivation. There is a possibility of my adding a 7:30pm class on Tuesdays at Balance Studio in Fremont in November. If that interests you, let me know :)! In the meantime, join me for Nia on Sundays mornings at 10:30am. For the month of October, it's all birthday celebrations with my favorite Nia songs and pop tunes!

And a reminder that my new four-week ArcanaDance series (two of them) begins this Sunday, October 2 and then Thursday, October 8. You can register for the series, use your class to drop-in or pay the drop-in fee. The physical focus of The Emperor is on strength and stability, quite a different dance from the fluid organic movement of the High Priestess ;). You don't need to know anything about tarot to do ArcanaDance. It is facilitated much like Nia but with an expanded focus on the story of the archetype and more time to explore your own organic movement related to the archetype. I am with you every step of the way in the dance.

ArcanaDance: The Dance of the Emperor
Sundays at 9:00am in Fremont and Thursdays at 7:00pm in Ballard

For this 4-week series, we will delve into the fourth card of the major arcana in a tarot deck; the Emperor. The Emperor is the archetype of the masculine leadership. He represents authority and “father figures.” The Emperor invites us to apply logic, reason and strategic thought to build a strong and stable foundation for the empire of our lives.

Sundays, 9:00am – 10:20am
Dates for the 4-week series: October 4, 11, 18 and 25, 2015
Location: Balance Studio in Fremont, 418 N. 35th St, Seattle, WA 98103
Cost: $15 drop-in or $55 for the series

Thursdays, 7:00pm – 8:20pm
Dates for the 4-week series: October 8, 15, 22 and 29, 2015
Location: Embrace the Moon (Ballard), 1716 NW Market, Seattle, WA 98107
Cost: $15 drop-in or $55 for the series

Each week we will explore, through dance, how the archetypal energy of the Emperor influences our ability to step into a leadership role in all four realms of our lives. We will have the opportunity to sense where we need to strengthen our mind, body, heart and soul in order to exert the personal power, authority and control needed to become the ultimate architect of our lives.

This is a wonderful archetype to explore if you want to invoke greater discipline and strategy in your work or with a creative project, or if you are ready to put necessary boundaries in place towards healthier living. Imagine what can emerge for you from giving yourself the gift of four weeks to explore your capacity to build and lead!
