"Nothing remains the same. There is no stasis, even in death. So any notion that nothing can change – least of all us or them, this or that – simply cannot be trusted, especially now! Change is the only constant, a dependable refuge until we know without doubt the sacred essence which feeds us from a different place." - Sarah Varcas
I captured the photo above, during an evening walk around Greenlake, a few days before the seasons changed. I marveled at the light, the expansive branches of this might tree, the tree trunks shadow and the leaves resting on the grass. I've walked by this same tree hundreds of times over the past 11 years since I relocated to Seattle. It looked different on this day. Had the tree changed? Or, had my perspective of it changed? How is it that I was looking at it differently on this day? The only answer I could come up with that change is constant. Change of the seasons, change in my perspective, changes in my eyesight and in what I notice, change in how the light darkens and illuminates.
Since then I have been journaling about change. It's been preparing me for the archetypal exploration of transition, via the Death card, that is the focus of all ArcanaDance offerings for the month of October. For me, personally, the biggest transition I have coming up in October is turning a year older and wiser. What will I shed, like a leaf dropping from a branch, as I celebrate 41 years of life? What will I seed, like an acorn, for the year ahead?
In the spirit of seeding newness for the year ahead, I am learning a new-to-me Nia routine titled "Dream" and will be introducing it in all of my Nia classes in the weeks ahead. You can listen to the music of Dream here
Below are some offerings coming up in the month ahead. In addition, for those of you interested in journaling and/or tarot prompts, below are a series of questions for you to explore inspired by todays New Moon.

During this three-week series we will explore the tarot card, Death. In the tarot, the Death card represents the archetype of transition and transformation. Death invites us to release the past, clear away what is no longer relevant in our lives while transitioning to new beginnings. This is the perfect archetype to explore when you are seeking ways to honor endings in your life, such as the loss of relationships/career/moving to a new home/old habits or beliefs, whilst reconciling the feelings of loss and anticipation of the new.
A Tarot Workshop with the Death Card: Honoring Transitions

Time: 11:00am - 5:00pm

During this workshop we will use tarot, movement and music to craft our own personal ritual to honor a transition in your life.
