Issue # 25

From the President

Congratulations to Hamish Adamson who made his Premier 1 debut on Saturday against Fremantle. Hamish them joined his J9/10A team mates on Sunday to crush UWA 10-1.

There were 4 YMCC games on at Perry Lakes on Saturday afternoon and we took away wins in all 4 games. The over 40 div 1, over 60 div 1 and metro 2 women all booked themselves a grand final spot with their respective wins. As predicted, there was a big turn out for 40’s div 1 given it was finals time. A few more games during the season would have prevented all the hamstring injuries though. The metro 2 men will proceed to the preliminary final thanks to a thundering short corner that the goal keeper only saw when it bounced back out after hitting the backboard. The over 60’s never looked troubled in their game and the metro 2 managed to block out the 30 sideline coaches from earlier games to win on penalty strokes.

In other senior finals games, the Prov 3 men won on penalty strokes after extra time. I understand that it went to sudden death. Note to Tim Moore-Crouch you can celebrate after you put the stroke in not before! The provisional 1 women went down 8-9 in a very tight match. Finally the provisional 4 men also had a close win 5-4 over Hale, and like the provisional 3 men have progressed straight through the grand final.

A reminder to all senior teams and players to please book your wind up tickets now. Details are listed below and you can book online.

Good luck to everyone playing this weekend.

Regards
Paul Hough
YMCC President

Match Review

Metro 2 Men

For the second week in a row we met the Joondalup Lakers, but this time we were in front of a raucous home crowd at Perry Lakes, who were already up and about after wins to the Prov 4’s and Men’s O40’s Div 1. We certainly didn’t want to be the ones to let the team down, but you wouldn’t know it by the way we started. Completely forgetting about the short game that had got us into to the finals, we fell back into old habits with the old “hit it long and hope” strategy that has characterised Grass Crab hockey for so long. While it might work against the shoe-less weekend warriors down at Armadale, it wasn’t going to cut it in a final, and Joondalup were tearing us to shreds through the midfield. It was only through great keeping by Sean and a bit of luck that the score remained even. We were under pressure in defence, but the Weapon and Joshie made some key tackles, Chicko got in the way a few times and Red certainly had his hands full all afternoon. We were down in numbers on the bench as well, with Captain Budgie joining Claz on the sidelines after his calf gave way as a result of an entirely inappropriate choice of pants (the Grass Crabs are good at many things, but wearing slim-fit clothing is definitely not one of them). As the game wore on the energy levels dwindled. Although we were getting the ball into attack, Burt was struggling to get away from their key full-back, who was all over him like a good old-fashioned venereal rash. We rotated the Animal through the key forward spot but he couldn’t re-capture his goal-scoring form from the Blades game earlier in the year. Enter Coco. In the dying minutes of the game we scrambled a short corner, and clearly fed up with his team’s performance (as usual) Coco installed himself as the hitter. With the late afternoon sun gleaming off his perfect teeth he placed a sizzling shot into the corner, while his favourite lady watched on drooling with her tongue hanging out. His dog Sausages was excited too. In the end it was enough, and we survive to fight on next week……

A word about our Sponsors

Has your home loan rate become less competitive lately?
Do you want to know what your possible options are?

If you want some free, no obligation information about home loans then drop Cosi an email (david@cosihomeloans.com.au)  to see what the possibilities are.  Even if you have negative equity in your house and are paying some crazy interest rate, there are often ways to still get a better rate.

One lender has a niche where they will give you owner occupied rates on your investment property (as long as you have 25% of your loan as owner occupied).  Another lender will use an autoval if the loan is only 80% of the value, so where an actual valuation might come in lower the option to use an autoval might mean you are actually able to refinance.

Send me any questions or scenarios and I will gladly have a look at them and get back to you with some information.  If you successfully refer a loan or re-write your own loan you will get a $500 credit for your hockey fees!
