2019 culminated in a year of success for our Women’s Teams with both our Promo 1 and Promo 2 teams being elevated to the Premier League.
This was as a result of a lot of hard work and commitment from the squad, the coaches and the Women’s Committee led by Fiona Stuart. On behalf of all of us at YM, thank you everyone.
Instead of basking in our glory, we immediately began the planning for next year and beyond and are extremely happy to announce that our new Head Women’s Coach for the 2020 season will be Tate Napier.
Tate began her career as a talented junior player in WA and has represented her state in both junior ranks and as a senior player in the WA Diamonds from 1998 to 2003. She was also a member of both the Australian Junior and Senior squads.
Tate sought to further her career through coaching, and opportunities arose to coach at both National level at U18 and U21 as well as local Premier League level. It was Tate’s success at this level that would then provide the openings to coach at AHL with both the NT Pearls and WA Diamonds.
Today you will find Tate as the Head of the Hockey Program at the Como Hockey Academy in Perth, a role she embraces with both passion and professionalism.
Tate’s brings not only a wealth of playing and coaching experience at the highest level but also a great passion to develop all player’s skills, culture and that Premier League mentality required to remain at the top flight.
YMCC is proud to welcome Tate and look forward to an exciting year back in the Premier League for our top Women’s Teams.
