China: Learn, Serve, Immerse
(June 20-July 5)
Picking peppercorns in Sichuan

This Global Family Travels’ tour emphasizes authentic cultural experience to give you a true taste of China. Besides visiting some of its best-loved destinations, such as the Great Wall and the Terracotta Warriors, you will also have the chance to immerse yourself in the local customs and culture of the Qiang minority people of Maoxian County and work with wildlife in a Sichuan panda sanctuary. Take an evening stroll down Jinli Street, learn Chinese handicrafts from a local artisan, work side-by-side with Chinese veterinarians in Bifengxia. Whether you find yourself drinking tea and playing Mahjong with the locals, joining in a morning Taiji practice, or making dumplings with a local family, this tour offers plenty of opportunities to “do as the locals do.”

Nicaragua: Bridging Cultures with Soccer
(June 21-July 1)
Pack up your cleats and head out with Global Family Travels on an incredible tour of Nicaragua that combines a love of soccer with a cultural exchange like no other! Our service learning project in Nicaragua involves building soccer fields and working in the community of Chacraseca, just outside of the colonial city of Leon.  For 3 days of this trip, participants will enjoy soccer drills and playing games with the locals, orchestrated by a professional soccer coach who will accompany us on the trip.  One of the highlights of this trip is a local homestay and the opportunity to get to know the local culture.

Excursions and activities include:  zip-lining,  hiking volcanoes, chocolate making and pottery classes, shop local markets and spot wild monkeys on boat tour. Click here to learn about the Top 10 highlights of this Soccer Exchange trip.

Lama Tenzin's GIFT - New India Tour

In early January of 2016, Global Family Travels will offer a unique opportunity to learn, serve, and immerse in support of the good work of Lama Tenzin, a Buddhist monk in Dehradun, India. In this article, we share Lama Tenzin’s story and his causes.

In 2000, Lama Tenzin traveled with his two brothers through the Upper Dolpo region of the Himalayan border between Nepal, India and Tibet. During his journey, he rescued abandoned and neglected children (mostly girls) and founded an orphanage called the Children’s Educational Development Society (CED ). They involve trekking 10 hours/day for 20-30 days while climbing over altitudes of 18,000 ft through treacherous conditions.  Continue reading on our blog post
