NEW YEAR, NEW APPROACHES

With 2017 comes new opportunities to make resolutions we’re probably not going to keep. Just speaking the truth. But really, only 8 percent of people actually keep their New Year’s resolutions. Here are some ways to stick to your goals and give yourself a “reset.”

NEW YEAR, NEW WAYS TO PROCRASTINATE

Productive Procrastination

Can we procrastinate productively? It sounds like an oxymoron, but a technique called “simplified habit reversal” may help you get better at wasting time.

NEW YEAR, NEW CELEBRATIONS

We're ready to party like it’s our birthday because it's the bicentennial! And yes, we’re going to celebrate the entire year because that’s how awesome this school is. Why 1817 you may ask? Because Catholepistemiad a.k.a. University of Michigania a.k.a. the University of Michigan was established in Detroit by Governor Lewis Cass on Aug. 26, 1817. Happy birthday, go blue!

NEW YEAR, NEW HOBBIES

Is binge watching Netflix considered a hobby? May be time to get a new one. Try some of these inexpensive hobbies to get 2017 off to a good start.

NEW YEAR, OLD MEMORIES

For all you folks who decided to move to warmer places after graduation, you probably don’t miss the cold. Michigan winters were just ranked the 2nd most brutal in the country. While we’re reminiscing, Michigan’s television spot from this weekend will make you even more proud to be an alum.

The Friday Bluebook

How much does the Times Square New Year's Eve Ball weigh? (Click answer below.)

A

700
lbs.

B

2,668
lbs.

C

11,875
lbs.

Nice work. Half of you guessed correctly that wrapping paper as we know it originated from Kansas City, Missouri. About 28% of you guessed Paris, France and the rest thought it had originated in NYC.
