Request for 'Back-Up'

The Miano Family once again finds ourselves in need of "back-up."

As always, we are so very grateful to God for the many of you who support us each month. We are so very grateful to God for our two supporting churches: Beaverton Grace Bible Church and Cazenovia Village Baptist Church. And we are so very grateful to God for those of you who give occasionally as the Lord allows and when specific needs are made known to you.

Thank you.

As of this moment, we find ourselves $1,000 short of having enough to cover our basic needs, through the end of October.

If you can help us, we would be most grateful.

If you would be more comfortable or if it would be more convenient to send us a check, please make your check payable to: Revival-USA. Do not write anything on the memo line. 100% of your contribution goes directly to our ministry account. Revival-USA does not take any administration fees from the donations we receive.

Please send your check or money order to:

Revival-USA
P.O. Box 220087

If you would like to send us gift cards, which we will use for groceries and other necessities for the home, you can send them to the above address. We buy our groceries at Walmart and Sam's Club.

Some Additional Information and Clarification

It seems that whenever I put out special requests for support like this, we lose people from the email list. So, I think it's important for me to share a few things with you.

Retirement: Many of you know that I am a retired deputy sheriff. What many of you don't know is that I do not have a pension that provides our family with income. A lot of people assume that I have a steady retirement income from my 20-year law enforcement career. Only 13 of my years contributed to my retirement. The last eight years of my career, I was a reserve deputy and a chaplain, with an annual salary of $1. You read that right: One Dollar. I won't begin to receive my retirement pay for another five years, and it won't be much.

Mahria Works: Now that all of our girls are adults and Mahria's homeschool career is over, she is working outside the home. Mahria works part-time as an accounting assistant for a private swim club. Mahria's income provides for about 1/6th of our monthly need.

Tent Making: This might surprise some of you. Then again, if history repeats itself, some of you won't be surprised. When I send out these requests for financial assistance, it's not uncommon for me to receive a couple responses that go something like this: "Why don't you get a job. Stop begging. Haven't you ever heard of tent-making?" And these responses come from "Christians."

While I believe I am working to provide for my family by serving Christ in this ministry, not everyone does. I believe the truth contained in 2 Thessalonians 3:10, which reads: "For even when we were with you, we would give you this command: If anyone is not willing to work, let him not eat." I believed it long before I knew Christ and before I knew there was such a thing as a "Second Thessalonians." I've been unemployed for a total of only three weeks in the last 34 years.

Recently, I began engaging in "tent-making," in an effort to provide additional income for my family. My "tent-making" is in the form of copy writing. Since August, I have been employed as a private contractor, by Prepared Marketing. Prepared Marketing assists businesses of various sizes through website design, SEO, and online marketing. My role with the company, as a copy writer, is to write content for clients' websites.

At three cents per word, it's not a living wage, but it helps. And I'm very grateful to my friend, Ken Cook, for giving me the opportunity to utilize my writing ability to provide income for my family.

Our Lifestyle: We've lived in the same 1,200 sq. ft. condominium for 25 years. The condo is 45 years old. Our cars (mine and Mahria's) are 11 and 15-years-old, respectively, with a combined mileage of about 370,000 miles. We have no debt, aside from our mortgage. We do not live beyond our means, and we are content with where the Lord has us.

I share these things not to boast or to garner pity, but to be transparent about our financial situation. I hope this helps to clarify any confusion that might be out there.

Thank you for your support.

Desiring to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified,

Tony
