OTW Brings Theater to Your Home
(in two acts and 35 phone calls)

The COVID-19 pandemic may have put a halt to many things, but The Olean Theatre Workshop will not be one of them! We here at The Workshop are proud to announce that we are working on producing a streamed version of "Belles" by playwright Marc Dunn that will be brought to you in the comfort and safety of your own home. With eyes set to October for this first of its kind performance, we hope that you will mark your calendars as we try to bring the magic of theater to all those who have missed it as much as we have.
"Belles" is a play uniquely adaptable for streaming as it centers around six southern sisters, who, over the course of an autumn weekend, seek to bridge the physical and emotional distance between them via the telephone, and in the process come to terms with their shattered family history. While the playwright originally imagined a production set on stage with 6 women waiting by their phones, we at The Olean Theatre Workshop will bring this show into our ever prevalent reality as these women share (zoom) calls to stay connected as many of us have had to do over these past 6 months.
We hope that this gives you something to look forward to and we hope to see you at the virtual show this fall.

The health and safety of our staff. actors, children and patrons remain our top priority. When we are ready to open we will use the following protocols to open our theater safely. Until then we will we will visit you virtually.

New Safety and Health Procedures
Olean Theatre Workshop’s
Washington Street Theatre
Reopening plans include a wide range of new health and safety measures based on guidelines provided from the CDC. The plan also includes safety measures based on feedback received from staff and others they have deemed most important for their return. OTW will continue to  provide  contactless payment options and will initiate  sanitizing methods including:
ULV Foggers.
Staff will sanitize every seat weekly using new electrostatic ‘fogger’ equipment. This form of deep sanitization is highly effective in disinfecting all materials with a non-toxic formula that is fast drying.
Along with the above procedure, OTW will sanitize high-contact points on an increased schedule and use floor markers throughout the building to assist with social distancing. Additionally, the following safety measures that cover the entire theater experience will be implemented, providing a safe venue for staff and guests:
OTW Staff
OTW Staff will undergo daily health screenings including temperature checks where mandated.
Staff will be required to wash hands at minimum every 30 to 60 minutes, dependent on job role.
All staff will be required to wear masks.

Guests will be required to wear face masks in the lobby, hallways and restrooms and can remove them once seated.
A greeter will be located in the lobby to assist guests with new procedural changes.
Guests will be encouraged to proceed to their seats as soon as possible, and exit the theater in a timely manner at the conclusion the performance or class.
Sanitizer dispensers will be available at the main entrance.

As required by state or county mandate, our theater capacity will be reduced to 50%. You will be requested to leave two seats between groups.

OTW continues to work closely with the relevant authorities and safety measures will be constantly monitored and adjusted according to the requirements.
