Social Media “copy followers” strategy
This one is pretty simple, and works well for both Twitter and Instagram. I’ve used it to grow Twitter accounts for several businesses. It is a little more difficult to use with Instagram, but it’s doable.
The basic idea is to find a local business (another acupuncture clinic, health food store, etc) on Twitter or Instagram that would have people who might be interested in acupuncture. Then start to follow their followers. With Twitter, the limit is to follow about 100 people an hour; with Instagram it’s more like 25 an hour. You can follow people a few times a day.
Why do this? Because if they follow those similar accounts, they’re probably interested in acupuncture and being healthier. And 10 to 15% will follow you back. That’s not a ton, but it’s the more active Twitter/Instagram users, and it adds up.
Not everyone will follow you back. That’s totally fine. Wait a couple days to give them a chance, and if they don’t follow you back, just unfollow them. You can rapidly grow a Twitter or Instagram following with this technique by doing it whenever you have downtime at the clinic. A tool like crowdfireapp.com makes it way easier, too. Once they’re following you, post tweets and articles to try to get them to come into your clinic.
