I hope the season is going well for you so far.

The forecast for the weekend seems to be improving which is a relief! I will have the pleasure of being in Iceland this weekend at the opening of the world's most northerly cricket ground wearing one of my other hats as Iceland National Team coach and Board member. A 10 degree summer day isn't uncommon out there which makes cricket challenging even over above the challenges of building cricket in Iceland but at least bad light is rarely an issue - the sun is setting at around 11pm at the moment and rising before 4am!

Back to league matters, to pick up on a couple of things that have cropped out from feedback on league games.

LBWs must be played for all hard ball matches. It is unfair on bowlers not to have LBWs. For me it's the equivalent of a batsman being out bowled, picking up the bails and carrying on. A dismissal is a dismissal. The LBW Law isn't really that complicated and can be explained to an inexperienced umpire in a couple of minutes. There are plenty of resources online where umpires can double check beforehand. I really don't want to any further reports of LBW not being employed, even by agreement.

We have seen a few one-sided games, not as many as in years gone by which is good. As we don't use Net Run Rate for any of our leagues there is no need to hammer teams into the ground. If you do end up having a team 5 or 6 down in no time fielding second, do give a thought to sharing the bowling around and trying to make the game last 20 overs please.

Finally, there are still plenty of friendlies available below.

As always, please feel free to drop me a line on anything that springs to mind.
