Message from Pastor Lora
October 16, 2020
I love hearing from all of you after a sermon. Getting messages and emails about Sunday’s sermons is one of the ways I feel connected to you all when we are apart, so thank you for all of your notes. I also know because of those notes that many of you really liked Padraig O Tuama’s words about prayer. Me too. If you don’t have a daily prayer habit, I’d invite you to join me in his Daily Prayer book.
It was beautiful to see candles added throughout the day on Thursday when we opened the sanctuary up for prayer. We will do that again from time to time so stay tuned.
This Sunday, we transition to the SEEK ANSWERS TO OUR QUESTIONS portion of our discipleship pathway (check your mail for a discipleship pathway magnet!!!), and this first Sunday focuses on “Join a Small Group.” Pastor Mike will be preaching! Join us at 10am on Facebook Live.
THEN – we are trying something new. Tune into Facebook Live on Sunday at 1:30pm for Confirmation Worship. We have waited six months to confirm our three youth and have decided to invite their families, mentors, and church council to be with them outside for this special day. We appreciate your prayers as we have our first in-person worship service. While we know it is limited and just this small group, it’s still a big deal for all of us. Please pray for these youth, our pastors and staff, families, mentors, and leaders who will be with us to welcome them into the church. What a witness of faith it is to see them say “yes” to our baptismal promises for themselves during such a hard year. God is doing amazing things.
I know there is COVID and election and cold weather is coming and things feel hard a lot. But you all have endured this for seven months. We’ve adapted something new every single week, and you’ve all been so patient and faithful in keeping with it. Thank you. Thank you for your grace and discipline to keep connecting with one another and God. Thank you for your generosity and the way you’ve taken time to go to our Give page and make sure you continue to support God’s mission financially at St. Paul’s.
“See” you Sunday,
Pastor Lora
