How You Can Help With the Installation of the Silver Creek Sundial at the Alger Community Hall
Chuck Nafziger, creator of the Silver Creek Labyrinth at the Alger WA
Community Hall, is leading the effort to build a solstice sundial. It
will be installed in the public park between the Alger Hall and Silver
Creek and will complement the pollinator garden, native plant
restoration, labyrinth and other art already in the park. As with the
labyrinth, there will be a strip of concrete around the main slab in
which neighbors can embed "mementos of the time" during the final
concrete pour. Cash donations will help cover the cost of materials,
which are expected to run about $3000. All labor will be donated.
Dedication of the completed project is planned for June 20, 2020, the
Time can be told by the shadow of the gnomon, the center post, on the
green equinox disk. The full size dial will be almost 6' tall.
