Help Support a Great Cause!
Passports with a Purpose
Help support Passports with Purpose by purchasing a passport cover from Travel Goal Getter during our second annual fundraising drive! Just like we did last year, we are donating 100% of the net profit from each passport cover to the cause. Passports with Purpose raised an incredible $116,000 last year to build much-needed wells in Haiti via Water.org. This year, their goal is $115,000 to build schools and provide literacy programs in Mali, Africa, through BuildOn.org.

Many different passport cover styles are available on our Ebay store page but hurry soon as quantities are limited and Travel Goal Getter's fundraising drive ends on December 31st. Prices are only $6.99 which includes shipping. The passport covers are designed to hold US passports, are constructed of heavy 12 gauge vinyl (made in the USA!) with card stock or scrapbook paper insert, and can even hold cash, cards or receipts in the inner flaps. They make great gifts or a unique way to announce a trip! Thank you for your support!
Member Highlight - 50 States, 50 Slices of Pie!
Member Highlight - 50 States, 50 Slices of Pie
If you are like us, some of our fond memories are centered around the great meals and foods we have eaten - beignets in New Orleans, crab cakes in Maryland, and Tex-Mex in San Antonio. We often seek out new food adventures when we travel if only to say, "I've tried that!"  New member, John from New York,  put his own spin on such a food travel goal by eating a slice of pie in all fifty states. When talking about his culinary travel goal, John said, “I pulled over at (mostly) mom-and-pop type places to enjoy one of life's great pleasures...a slice of "homemade" pie with an ice cold glass of milk!" What a fantastic and delicious idea!  Thank you John for your inspiration and welcome to the club! Read more including John's most memorable pies...

Travel Goal Getter Favorite Places to Visit Across the Globe
Where in the world are our favorites? We ask members when they join what is their favorite place they visited. The answers are literally scattered all over the globe! A few repeats for countries frequently visited like France and England - but many people have unique favorites. While it is a matter of opinion, these places must have some special factor to be named a favorite, so visit them for yourself!  If we don't have your favorite on the map let us know! Read more about Travel Goal Getter Member World Favorites. In last month's newsletter we shared our members favorite places to visit in the USA. If you missed it - Read more about All Fifty Club Member Favorites in the USA

National Parks Open For Business!
National Parks
We hope the government shut-down didn't impact any of your travel plans! Our heart goes out to those who made a trip to Washington D.C. only to be blocked from seeing many of the national monuments or those who drove all the way to Mt. Rushmore and were not able to see it up close. Several days ago the National Park Service posted 13 National Park Service Sites that reopened with the financial support from the states. We applaud those state's efforts to keep them open for visitors. Now that the government shut-down is over, let the traveling continue! There are 401 National Park Service Sites (Sites, Parks, Preserves, Monuments, Battlefields, Recreation Areas etc.), of which 59 are National Parks. If you have visited all 50 states, make visiting National Park Service Sites that you missed your next goal!

The Lighter Side...Sign Translations
Funky translations on signs are always good for a laugh when you travel, although it would be nice if this warning wasn't necessary. The photo was taken at Tiger Hill Pagoda in Suzhou City, China. The Pagoda has the nickname the "Leaning Tower of China". Laugh some more on our Lighter Side of Travel page.
