Holy Land: Take Action

This Lent we're calling on Catholics to take action for justice and peace in the Holy Land.

A delegation of Bishops from around the world recently travelled to the region, where both Palestinians and Israelis are suffering the consequences of conflict and occupation.

Join the Bishops in Prayer

As we journey through Lent we look to the Holy Land to reflect on Christ's sacrifice and what it means to us.

In 2017 we see a land of tension and division, walls and suspicion. You can listen to the special prayer that the delegation bishops prayed together in Bethlehem in January and read the text here.

Holy Land Co-ordination 2017

Since 1998, the Catholic Bishops' Conference of England and Wales has organised an annual meeting of the Co-ordination of Episcopal Conferences in Support of the Church of the Holy Land. It's often more simply called the Holy Land Co-ordination.

Mandated by the Holy See, an international delegation of bishops meets in the region every January to act in solidarity with the Christian communities there and to share in the pastoral life of the local Church as it experiences extreme political and social-economic pressure.
