At Coastal Roots Farm, we are committed to ensuring that our community has fair, equal access to fresh, healthy food, regardless of ability to pay.

As part of a mission to reach our broader community, the Farm was thrilled to launch it's first Pop-up Pay What You Can Farm Stand at Vista Community Clinic this past week. Vista Community Clinic, located in Vista CA, serves low-income individuals and families, providing comprehensive health care services for everyone in the community, regardless of ability to pay or insurance status.  Many of the patients that visit VCC for services lack access to healthy, fresh food.  While there on Tuesday, January 10th, the Farm distributed over 125 pounds of fresh food and donated nearly 60 pounds of produce via our Pay What You Can discounts.  “I was excited to see this in the clinic! Fresh vegetables are expensive. I like that I pay what I can afford. I hope we can find this here more often” said Julia, a Farm Stand customer.

Coastal Roots Farm will be at VCC once a month moving forward, so stay tuned for an announcement of our next Pop-up date!

Pick up a shovel, we've got a forest to build! Join us on Sunday, Febuary 5th for our second annual Tu B'shevat Food Forest Festival! Plant an edible forest in the heart of Encinitas in honor of Tu B'shevat, the Jewish birthday of the trees, and create lasting community connections. All are welcome!

Throughout the morning, plant a tree, play in nature, and learn more about food forestry and Tu B'shevat. We'll have two tree planting sessions; ongoing music, food and dance; an interfaith discussion on the significance of trees; Tu B'shevat learning; and plenty of fruits to taste throughout the forest!

If you would like to plant a tree at the festival please let us know in your registration and we will reserve one for you. Trees are limited so please choose to only plant one tree per family.
