Dear Friends,
It's spring, and we're having a party!  On April 6th, you're invited to a Benefit for AOO at the Pt. Reyes Dance Palace -- come and support clean Oceans and beaches with music, poetry, visual art and community.

Read on for more information, a powerful story about our new Hawaiian Islands Beach Clean Up Stations (BCUS) and a link to the story in the newspaper! Also, tomorrow, Thursday, March 27th from 5 to 5:30pm PDT, you can listen online as AOO Founder, Hallie Iglehart, speaks on West Marin's very own radio station, KWMR 90.5 FM Pt. Reyes Station / 89.9 FM Bolinas.
As always, thank you for your support in making this work possible. Because of you, AOO can continue to engage citizens around the world in protecting marine life from plastics and Ocean trash. Join us April 6th so we can celebrate you!
BCUS Now in Hawaii!
AOO Founder, Hallie Iglehart, has been hard at work in Hawaii. After over a year, two pilot Hawaiian Islands Beach Clean Up Stations and a large educational sign were installed on February 28th at Hapuna Beach.

We are thrilled that the biggest beach on Hawaii Island now has an easy and ongoing system for beach cleanup. This is only the beginning for AOO in Hawaii!

AOO is deeply grateful to our Hawaii Island team: Dean Takebayashi of the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR), and Elizabeth Pickett and Tom Loomis of Ocean Warriors (OW), the experiential youth program of the Malama Kai Foundation, developed to engage local students in coastal stewardship and protection.
Thanks also go to The Dorrance Family Foundation for seed funds and the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel for providing the coffee bean bags we use for collecting trash.

The day after the Stations were installed, Ku'u (Kahuna) Kalani Souza (below), an All One Ocean Advisory Board member, led a ceremony to bless the boxes.
Kalani offered songs and blessings and asked the four key people to state their intentions in working on the Hapuna BCUS. As they did so, they poured water from a secret Hapuna spring into a bowl. Then Kalani sprinkled the water over the thirty attendees and over the BCUS.
Within days following the ceremony, AOO received inquiries for Beach Clean Up Stations at two more sites on Hawaii Island and a request to help facilitate online Ocean trash education between schoolchildren in the Netherlands and Hawaii. You can help All One Ocean continue to share our work around the world!

A bit of backstory, from AOO Founder Hallie Iglehart...

Last year, while in Hawaii, I found a note on my windshield saying, “I must talk to Hallie about the pollution in Kaleakakua Bay.” I had no idea how this person had found me, but ultimately that note led me to organize five in-the-water cleanups of Hawaiian tsunami debris. While working with Dean Takebayashi from the Department of Land and Natural Resources on this project, I told him about the Beach Clean Up Stations.
His response? “I can give permission to set one of those up at Hapuna.” I was floored, as it usually takes six to twelve months to get approval for the first BCUS in a state.
"I marvel at all the doors that open, guiding us as to how best help the Ocean."
~Hallie Iglehart
But here we are, a little over a year later, and the Stations are up! They've already begun bearing fruit and multiplying. I marvel at all the doors that open, guiding us as to how best help the Ocean.
