The board is working on a survey for our owners which will provide us insight into the current level of community engagement, shopping practices and help us assess overall feasibility. We are planning to have the results back in time for our Annual Meeting in November, so that we can speak to where we should position ourselves for the upcoming year. Please watch your inboxes for this in early October.
In parallel, we are actively searching/recruiting for new board members. You need not have prior experience to do this. We will provide training and orientation - we simply ask that you come with a passion to learn and help steer the future direction of the co-op. For more information, please reach out at hudsongrocerycoop@gmail.com.
The date for our Hudson Grocery Cooperative Annual Meeting has been set for November 15, 2018. Mark it on your calendars! Have a great month and thank you for your continued support!

HGC Owner Survey
The HGC Board is currently working to develop an owner survey. The co-op grocery industry has seen a lot of changes in the past five years since HGC started. From new nation grocery chains to online shopping, where and how consumers shop has changed. The survey is intended to give the Board a better understanding of what our owners want and how to best meet their shopping needs.
Please watch for the survey coming in October. Your input is needed.

HGC at the Sheepdog Competition
HGC had a booth at the annual Wisconsin Working Stock Dog Association (WWSDA) Sheepdog Competition at Badlands Sno-Park. We had some light rain but that didn’t stop the competition as the trainers and dogs took to the beautiful rolling hills to put the sheep through their paces.
Thank you to the HGC volunteers for manning the HGC booth: Jacki Bradham, Melanie Herberg, Buck Malick Ida-Ellen Sansom and Jen DeSanctis.

HGC Seeks Directors
It is almost time to elect new members to your co-op’s Board of Directors! In 2018, we are seeking five Directors to fill vacancies on the board.
Directors are asked to attend monthly board meetings, participate on a committee and commit to ongoing education in order to stay current with industry trends. Orientation sessions are provided, as well as ongoing educational opportunities throughout the year.
The Board of Directors election will occur at the Hudson Grocery Cooperative Annual Meeting on November 15, 2018. If you are an Owner interested in pursuing a Director seat or have additional questions, please contact us at hudsongrocerycoop@gmail.com or 715-690-1043.

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers Needed for Spirit Art Festival
The Spirit of the St. Croix Art Festival at Lakefront Park is set for the weekend of September 22 and 23. We need numerous volunteers for a variety of shifts on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p m.
We will be making vegetables prints with the children for our art activity. This event is an opportunity for families to volunteer together, older children can help demonstrating the crafts and parents can talk with guests about the co-op.
If you are interested in helping at the booth during the Art Festival weekend, please contact Melanie at m.m.innovations@gmail.com or 715-222-3032.
Volunteers Needed for Marketing Communications
HGC needs your help with our marketing and communications efforts. We are looking for volunteers to write articles for the Beet newsletter, update the website blog, provide content and post updates on Facebook, and re-stock brochures at various business locations. If you enjoy event planning, we can use your help with set-up for our table displays at various community events. Any of these opportunities can be done on an ad-hoc basis that works with your schedule. We'd love to hear from you! Please contact Carol Zempel at hgcoop.vicepresident@gmail.com.
