Board Briefs

July has been a busy month for HGC!  You may have seen a number of volunteers supporting RiverFest’s Scrappy at the Hudson Booster Parade. This has become an annual event for HGC and we are glad to support in helping to keep our post-parade streets free of trash.
In addition to the Booster Parade, a number of your Directors worked the Co-op table at the RiverFest concert event. Perhaps due to the heat, concert going numbers were a bit down, but as usual we found that many who stopped by had an interest in finding out more about the co-op and becoming owners!
Finally, the month wrapped up with an owner drive at Pier 500. This proved to be another great event attended by community members seeking more information and becoming owners in the co-op. Thank you Pier 500!
August will be another great month.
Thanks for your continued support in growing our co-op!

Call for candidates for the HGC Board of Directors

Are you an owner who is looking to become more involved and feel you have much to offer the HGC? Consider running for the Board of Directors!
As a Director you will have the satisfaction of serving a growing organization that will serve the community with healthy products and education. You will have a voice in shaping the future of the co-op while working with a group of people who share a commitment to a democratic process and a sustainable local economy.
The owners of Hudson Grocery Cooperative will elect new directors at the annual owner meeting to be held in November. Our volunteer Board is made up of 5 to 9 co-op owners just like you who each serve 3-year terms. Directors commit to attending regular and special meetings prepared to share ideas, they serve on committees, pursue educational opportunities, assure adherence to the co-op board policies, and most importantly, keep us moving toward our goal!

If you are interested in running for the board there is an application process that includes an orientation that will provide information on what we do and will allow you to ask questions of current Directors.
Still need to learn more about the role of HGC Director? Contact us!  You may contact any sitting Director or drop us a line with any questions at

The Director election information packet and application will be posted on our website in August.
Thanks for your consideration to serve in this important role!

Another Volunteer Opportunity is Knocking!
Summer is in full bloom and it will soon be time for the North Hudson Pepper Fest.  The Pepper Fest Parade will be on Saturday, August 20th at 1:00 p.m. and we are looking for some HGC volunteers who want to join in the fun.
The Co-op has been invited to join the RiverFest “Scrappy” float on the parade route.  Scrappy is adorned with litter that has been collected during annual river cleanups.  Volunteers from the Co-op are needed to help keep the parade “litter free” by handing out trash bags for parade viewers to bag up their trash so it can be collected from the curb at the end of the parade. This is a great opportunity to create some visibility for the Co-op.
We will be handing out HGC flyers and donning our HGC t-shirts (you can purchase one to keep, or borrow one for the event).  Let us know we can count on you to help your Co-op increase its visibility by walking (and working) in the Parade!
To volunteer contact Jacki at or 715-386-3826.
