Hi <<First Name>>
Happy Monday :)
I hope you had a great weekend. I've just returned from a week-long trip through the region of Saxony-Anhalt in East Germany, so this newsletter is a bit later than usual, my apologies! I was in Germany to learn more about 'Transromanica', which is a network of Romanesque heritage sites across Europe, crossing 12 regions in 9 countries. This network was initiated in 2003 as part of an EU funded project and now they have an international association to coordinate the network in the long term.
We visited many churches, monasteries and castles and learned tons, but we also combined this with unusual activities along the route, such as a boat ride on a raft, a mega-zipline and a lesson in Medieval writing! We also got to stay in unique accommodation, such as the 'Art Hotel' in Magdeburg, which was designed by eccentric architect/artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser.
Then finally, I also had the chance to feed my inner-space geek, as I visited a museum and planetarium about the 'Nebra Sky Disk', a bronze disk that was found in the area in 1999 and which turned out to be the oldest representation of our universe. I'll definitely be sharing more about this on the blog!
For now, it's time to browse through over 1000(!) photos and videos before I can start researching and writing all the articles. This is where the real work of a travel blogger starts!
I wish you a wonderful rest of your week. Nick is working on some important deadlines at work, and I'll be working on the blogs before my brother arrives on Wednesday and we'll have a week of fun activities planned in and around London. Of course we'll keep you posted.
Make sure to follow along live via @thetraveltester and @thelondontester. Talk to you soon!!
