Last weekend was pretty historic as we saw hundreds of thousands of people in Washington, DC and around the world marching, supporting, and of course, posting their very strong beliefs.

Here are some of the issues people are discussing:
  • Helping people get jobs.
  • Making marginalized voices heard.
  • Helping end violence and hatred.
  • Hoping that our neighborhoods and country can take a step forward.
  • Helping our urban areas.
  • Equality of rights.
  • Health care and basic servies.
One of the biggest points I heard over the weekend from both our new president and the protesters was the need for regular people to get involved and help bring about these needed changes.

This is where we can really agree as a church. In all the issues listed above (which I think all came from both sides), there are many different ideas of how, who, and when they should be solved. What I am convinced of is that we don’t have to wait for a law or policy. We can just start helping.

Right now you can:
  • Help people find jobs.
  • Listen to the marginalized.
  • Help end violence.
  • Be a part of your neighborhood getting better.
  • Work on our urban issues.
  • Treat people with respect as equals.
  • Help people get health care.
There are lots of ways we can do this, but if you are looking for an easy way, I would suggest looking at our site. We are so lucky to work with great organizations that are currently working to meet all those needs.

This is an interesting time in our culture, my hope is that it will be remembered in history as a time when lots of people took next steps to serve and love one another.

Of course, on top of getting involved, we can all pray and take great comfort in the power and love of our God.

Much Love,

Our world talks a lot about love, but is it telling us the truth? Is it possible that some of the things we have been told about romance, marriage, and even sex are nothing more than unrealistic and harmful fairy tales? Join us as we debunk four common love lies and discover the truth that can replace them.
