York University scientist helps build instrument on new James Webb Space Telescope

The state-of-the-art telescope is the result of a collaboration between NASA, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency, and is the most powerful telescope ever built. York University Associate Professor Adam Muzzin of the Faculty of Science is part of the expert team working on the telescope.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies awarded York University Professors Petros Faloutsos and Ellen Bialystok with the Postdoctoral Supervisor of the Year Award. This honour is bestowed annually on a postdoctoral supervisor who provides an exemplary environment of support for professional skill development, promotes a climate of respect and collegiality.

Endowed bursary for School of Continuing Studies to benefit domestic and international students

York University’s School of Continuing Studies has announced its first-ever endowed bursary, after a $100,000 donation from Gautham Kolluri, founder and director of CIP Study Abroad. The gift will support student bursaries that help students in financial need beginning in 2023.

The year 2021 will end with a light show as the Geminids meteor shower rains down from the darkness of night. The astronomical event continues to Dec. 17.

Three York University trainees received the Innovation York Commercialization Fellowship. The Fellowship was launched this year to support the research commercialization process by providing strategic, short-term funding to assist in developing commercially viable projects at the University.
