April 2013 Newsletter
It looks like spring has finally sprung! We hope you're able to get out and enjoy the melting conditions. This month we have some announcements as well as some follow-up from our last meeting.

Online Check out our website at We would love for you to write a guest post for the blog! If you have a tutorial or something to share please contact us and we will get you set up with a profile so that you can write a guest post. This is a great way to drive traffic to your own blog and share ideas with members of the guild. We also have a Flickr group found here: If you are a Flickr member please join the group and add your projects to the pool! We'd love to see what you are working on. These don't have to be MQG specific projects, just anything you are working on.

MeetingsRegular Sunday meetings will continue to be the 4th Sunday of the month. Our next Sunday meeting is Sunday April 28 at 2pm at Periwinkle . We also have meetings the second Wednesday of the month, from 7pm-9pm at the Co-op Grocery store on 8th Street. There is a meeting room beside the pharmacy. The next Wednesday night meeting will be April 10th. We endeavour to keep the Sunday meetings more structured and the Wednesday meetings more informal, anything goes on Wednesday, bring something to share with the group, something to work on, things you need help with, whatever you feel like contributing.

Sunday April 28th Meeting: Patti will be giving us a lesson on foundation paper piecing! Also we will show off the results of our colour challenge and announce something new and fun.

Crayon ChallengeIn February we drew two crayons out of a hat. We can't wait to see what you did with your selections at the April 28th meeting. Remember only use the two colours you drew plus any neutrals.

Charity Quilt
Patti donated a wonderful bundle of Snap Pop fabric and we are going to use it to make charity quilts. If you received fabric at the last Sunday meeting remember to make 2 (at least, more are always welcome) 12.5" unfinished blocks. They can be anything design you want buy please try to incorporate one of our focus techniques in at leats one of the blocks (English paper piecing, curves, improv, or April's topic on foundation paper piecing), feel free to add any coordinating solids to your block. These blocks are due at the May 26th meeting.

If you would like to participate and didn't get fabric at the last meeting send us an email, we still have a few bundles remaining.

Moose Jaw Road Trip

A group of us have decided to head down to the Moose Jaw quilt show on April 27th. We circulated a sign-up sheet at the last meeting. If you are interested in attending please let us know as we will be sending out an email with details this weekend. Also let us know if you are willing to drive. We were planning on meeting at Periwinkle in the morning, making the drive and having lunch before attending the show. Cost of the show is $6, and we will split gas. Email us at to put your name on the list.

The Pathways program at Cosmo Civic center is looking for fabric and sewing machine donations. If you have any fabric or a sewing machine in working order that needs a new home please contact Carey or Trisha at 306-664-3158.
