Who is Tencar?
Georgann M. Carrubba RN
Georgann M. Carrubba, RN has worked in the medical field almost her entire life. A graduate of the State University of New York at Genesee (2003), Georgann became an LPN in 1984 and worked in several nursing homes and medical surgical settings. Georgann also worked at the Veterans Hospital in Batavia. In 1991 she gave birth to her only child, Chelsea, and spent the following year being a devoted mother before returning to work as a private nurse for clients throughout Western New York. In 1996 she was the first staff nurse hired to open the New York State Veterans Home at Batavia. She spent three years concentrating on setting up the facility caring for veterans and families; providing quality care for those who served our country. Georgann accepted a transfer to Wende Correctional Facility in Alden, New York to open the Regional Medical Unit that services all inmates in New York State. She then returned to college completing her degree as a Registered Nurse in 2003.
Georgann later accepted a position as a Community Health Nurse in Genesee County for the Visiting Nurses Association, where she found that 1:1 care was her passion. Through Home Care Nursing, she realized the need for a better system for ostomy patients, one that would finally give them a choice for discreteness, added security and activity. It was in May of 2011 the concept of the Tencar ~ Choice Cap™ evolved as she made the first prototype of the Ostomy Cap System / Method and Fabric Covers. In November of 2011 Georgann filed her first patent. The ostomy Choice Cap™ Appliance and Method was approved in February 2014 by The US Patent office. (US Patent #8,657,799)
